Chapter 25: Accidents Happen Part 2
My body fell into a trance, I wasn't
thinking straight as Brian's lips mesmerized my whole body. I
stared at them as he stared at me.
Our breath left the air filled with white mist as the
temperatures dropped further and further. We leaned into one
another as I slowly felt his lips press against mine. They were
soft, gentle and warm as my body immediately lost the chill. Our
lips locked as I felt his tongue slip into my mouth, pressing
against mine, begging me for more.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
Nick looked on as he saw Kate and Brian kiss. He stopped dead in
his tracks and was speechless.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
My mind began spinning, what was I doing? What were we doing? But
I didn't break from his trance. All I kept seeing was Nick kiss
Mandy over and over again. My hurt and pain forced my lips even
harder against Brian's. His hand glided across my back several
times sending chills down my spine.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
Nick closed his eyes and opened them again. Kate what are you
doing?
~AT THE SAME TIME~
Suddenly I pulled away. We both looked at each other, shocked. I
didn't know what else to do, so I turned around and ran into the
hotel. Brian stood on the street, amazed by what had just
happened.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
A.J., Howie and Kevin all ran out the door when they heard from
Felicia what had happened. Felicia was having too much from with
the guys from 98* to leave the party, let alone her fifth glass
on champagne.
"Shit, they just got back together, where'd Mandy come
from?" A.J. mumbled as they walked to the street corner.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
Brian felt a push and then a serious amount of pain in his right
shoulder. He turned around and saw Nick standing there. It began
to rain outside, matting down their hair against their heads.
Nick's eyes were filled with anger as he stared down his best
friend. Brian was speechless.
"What the fuck are you doin'!?" Nick yelled, his voice
echoing through the streets.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
A.J., Kevin and Howie made it to the same corner Nick had just
stood on.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
"I - I...I dunno..." Brian stuttered. What was he
doing? He didn't know.
"I can't believe you!" Nick yelled as he put his hand
to his head and walked around. Out of anger and pain Nick walked
up to Brian and suddenly pushed him to the ground.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
"Fuck, what the hell?" A.J. asked as the three took off
down the street to where Nick and Brian were.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
"Get up Brian, I'll fight for her, get up!" Nick
yelled.
"Whoa, whoa, guys what's goin' on here? Nick you hate
fighting, what's up?" Kevin asked approaching the two.
"He's bein' a pussy, he won't get up!" Nick yelled as
rain soaked through his clothes.
Brian stood up slowly and backed away from Nick.
"Can someone tell us what the hell is going on?" Howie
insisted.
"He kissed Kate," Nick spat.
The three looked at each other as Nick and Brian continued to
stare each other down.
"Nick, it's...it's a misunderstanding," Brian began.
"MISUNDERSTANDING!?! I saw it Brian, how can it be a
MISUNDERSTANDING!?! And why did she run away?" Nick asked,
his face red with anger.
"She saw you and Mandy," Brian muttered.
"What do you mean she saw us?" Nick played dumb as the
tables turned.
"She saw you kissing Mandy, Nick. She was hurt and angry and
I rushed after her. It was an accident, out of emotional-"
"That still doesn't make up for it Brian!" Nick yelled.
"Stop trying to change the subject, would you listen to
me?" Brian yelled back.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
I stood in the lobby to catch my breath when I glanced out the
window to see Nick and Brian arguing in the rain with the other
boys around them. I bolted out the doors and down the steps to
the street.
"How could you do this?!" Nick yelled as he turned to
face me.
"It was an accident Nick, how could you do that to
me?!" I yelled back.
"It was an accident, she pushed herself into me and kissed
me. I pushed her off me, I swear," he replied harshly.
"Well it was an accident and I ran because I realized
that..." I replied quietly when Brian looked up at me.
"You're still an ass hole!" Nick yelled as he dove into
Brian and knocked him down on the street.
"Stop it!" I pleaded as Kevin and Howie went to tear
them apart.
A.J. came over and put his arms around me.
"Okay, now everyone listen. It's pouring rain, we're all
running high on emotion right now, let's go into the hotel and
talk about it," A.J. pleaded.
Nick huffed as they held him all the way to the rooms.
~NICK'S HOTEL ROOM~
"Okay, obviously a lot of this was a misunderstanding,"
Howie started as we all sat. Me and A.J. on one bed, Nick in a
chair, Brian in another chair and Kevin on the floor. "Now
Nick, you said that what happened with Mandy was an accident,
right?"
Nick nodded.
"And what about you two?" Howie asked. I glanced at
Brian, my hair in strands from the rain.
"It was an accident," Brian replied, looking down at
the ground.
"You only think it's an accident because you got
caught!" Nick yelled.
"Nickolas shut up and let him talk!" I yelled, tears
burning at my eyelids.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
"They what? Oh my gosh, this is so perfect," Kaylee
squeaked as Mandy reported the news about Brian and Kate's kiss.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
"Look Nick, we're both sorry, we've agreed it was an
accident and it'll never happen again. But on the other hand,
you've not said one thing about Mandy this whole time,"
Brian replied dryly.
I looked up at Nick who rocked back and forth in his chair in
anger.
"There's some things going on, she needed some money. I
don't know why, she has her own career now. So she came here to
find me and when she found out I was with Kate, well you know how
Mandy is...and she forced herself on me. But I pushed her away, I
swear."
We all sighed.
After fifteen minutes of silence Kevin stood up.
"This is obviously not getting anywhere tonight. It's
already way past midnight, we have to return tomorrow to Ontario,
we might as well sleep on it," Kevin replied as he said good
night and left.
I was so confused. My mind was racing. What had happened with
Brian happened on pure adrenaline, but how would I convince Nick
of it? After everyone left I packed my things to sleep in another
room.
"Where are you going?" Nick asked, the first time in a
half hour he said something.
"I'm going to go sleep somewhere else," I replied,
wiping my eyes. My mascara was already making trails down the
side of my cheeks.
I approached his chair and knelt down beside him.
"I don't know what happened out there. My adrenaline was
rushing, I was emotionally torn by what I had seen, I wanted so
bad to hurt you when I saw you kissing her. Brian ran after me,
it could have been anyone and I just let my emotions take me
away. But as soon as I realized it Nick, I pushed him away and he
did the same. You have to believe that," I replied as I got
up and walked out of the room.
~DOWNSTAIRS~
"You have no rooms!" I yelled at the clerk.
"No I'm sorry ma'am, it's New Years, we're all booked,"
the desk clerk replied.
"Argh!" I yelled as I marched back up to our floor.
*KNOCK KNOCK*
Brian came to the door in his boxers and a tank top. He was
shocked to see me.
"I'm sorry, I thought this was A.J.'s room, I was going to
stay with him tonight, the hotels packed for New Years," I
replied.
"Stay here tonight," he offered, his blue eyes staring
back at me.
"Where's Felicia?" I asked, peering over his shoulder.
"Oh she met up with some friends she hadn't seen in a long
time. I guess they're staying at their place or painting the town
all night. It is New York City on New Years," he replied.
"I don't think it's a good idea Brian, not after what just
happened," I looked down at the ground at my overnight bag.
"Please," his eyes pleaded with mine.
I sighed.
