Chapter 29

Chapter 29: Goodbye

Note: Meg Didn't write this chapter "Felicia" did, thus the slight change in writing style - in other words it's not written in Kate's Veiw of everything. Enjoy!

He pulled the key from his pocket and slipped in into the keyhole, he turned the lock and the door cracked open.
“Licia?” he questioned walking in the dark room
His hand slide across the wall, as he flicked the light switch, the room was quickly flooded with light.
“There you are” he smiled
She was sitting seemingly unaware of his presence in the room, on the armchair positioned on the opposite side of the room. As he walked closer her noticed the watery trails down her cheeks.
“Sweetie what’s wrong?” he inquired lovingly
No response came.
He leaned down and kissed her cheek gently, then slowly drew them down to her lips, kissing them passionately.
“You not feeling well?” he questioned pushing back the stray hairs that had ventured into the stream of tears.
She bolted upright off the chair, jolting Brian backwards.
“Why?” she questioned, her voice quietly breaking up
“Why what?” Brian inquired semi-laughing
Felicia walked over to the table and picked up the newspaper she’d been starring at for what had seemed like an eternity.
“Why?” she repeated, louder this time, as she heaved the paper in his direction.
Brian picked the paper up from the floor, and skimmed across it. Finally his eye was drawn to what she was talking about, his name, with Kate’s. He quickly read the letter, his eye bounding from one word to the next.
“Oh God” he mumbled dropping the paper
“Tell me Brian, is it true?”
Her eyes glistened with pain and tears, he couldn’t bear to lie to her.
“Yes but let me explain” he pleaded walking up to her
She dropped her head into her chest, allowing the tears to flow freely.
“Please let me explain” he whispered gently caressing her shoulder.
“No! Don’t touch me” she hissed yanking her arm backwards “Don’t you fucking touch me” she added
“Licia, please, can we just talk about this?”
“Oh you want to talk about this, okay Brian, so was there tongue?” she declared her voice now dripping with sarcasm.
“That’s not quite what I meant”
“Why would you do this? Why would you do it to me? To Nick?”
Brian’s heart sunk with deep regret, before him stood the women he loved, yet he couldn’t find the words, he couldn’t forgive himself for what he’d done, let alone ask her to forgive him.
“Does Nick know?” Felicia questioned in a whisper
“Yes” Brian solemnly replied
“What about AJ? Kevin? Howie? Do they all know?”
“Yeah”
Felicia’s mouth opened in disbelief, they all knew, everyone except her.
“Well that’s just great” she sniffed “and now along with them, everyone and their fucking monkeys uncle who reads the New York Times knows”
Her voice was slowly rising as her pain turned into anger.
“Fuck you Brian, out of everyone I’ve ever met, you were the last person I ever expected to hurt me”
Brian reached his hand longing to embrace her.
“I said don’t touch me” she screamed pushing his arm away from her
“I can’t even stand to look at you anymore” she said in a quite undertone
She briskly walked over to the door, and marched out of it, without even a simple glance backwards.

Felicia stormed down the corridor and stopped in front of the deep blue door with the gold numbering “706” on it. She knocked loudly.

“Hello?” Kate said drearily as she opened the door.
“Was it good?” Felicia harshly questioned as she walked into the room, pushing past Kate
“Was what good?” Kate questioned confused
“Was it good?” Felicia repeated sternly
“You mean the show? Oh yeah it was –“
“No I don’t mean the show”
“Is everything alright?”
Felicia slumped down onto the couch.
“He always kisses like he means it don’t you think?”
Kate’s heart dropped, did she know?
“I’m not sure what you mean” she nervously shrugged
“Oh yeah you do. You kissed Brian, for fucks sake, he kissed you, you kissed him, whatever, the point is you fucking kissed”
She angrily stood up and paced around the room.

“What’s going on?” Nick inquired walking into the room from the bathroom
“I thought we were friends Kate?” Felicia screamed
“Hey Licia calm down” Nick warned placing his hand on her shoulder
She slapped it back turning her head to glare at him for a moment.
“Look Felicia, it was an accident I swear, it was adrenalin nothing more” Kate pleaded seeing the fury and pain in her friends eyes
“That’s right if you Brian tell you he’ll swear black and blue it didn’t mean anything” Nick added
“Just because you are stupid enough to believe that Nick doesn’t mean I am” Felicia shot back “You know what Nick? You’re to naïve for your own good, you’re too trusting, don’t you see you don’t kiss from sheer adrenalin, not unless you mean it, in the heat of the moment, you always do what you wanted to do but never did before because you were scared of the consequences, that’s what the “rush” is, it’s doing what you’ve longed to without a though of the results”
Felicia turned her attention back to Kate.
“You know what Katilyn, I came here wanting to scream, swear, yell and even maybe bitch slap you, but I guess I should be thanking you instead. Thank you, thank you for showing me I'm clearly not what Brian wants” she sniffed back the tears but continued to put on a brave face “I really did think we’d be together forever, that we’d spend out lives together, but now I know that was just my foolish dreaming, so thank you for making me see that now, cause otherwise I would have kept on thinking that everything was just perfect when it’s in reality far from perfect, Brian doesn’t love me anymore” she finished, her voice slowly trailing off into a whisper
“That’s not the truth, Brian does love you” Kate pleaded
“I used to think so” Felicia solemnly replied as she walked back out the way she came

She followed her tracks back to the room, with Kate and Nick following behind. Silently she walked back into her room, where Brian sat his head buried in a torrent of tears flowing through his hands.
“Licia, you came back” he announced rushing up beside her
Without a word she pulled the suitcase from the wardrobe and flung it onto the bed, like a little ant she set about gathering up her possessions from around the room, refusing to even look at Brian.
“What are you doing?” he blurted out anxiously
“Are you blind as well? I'm packing Brian, I'm leaving”
“You cant go” he begged
“I have to”
She yanked the zip across the bag and hauled it into her grip, and strode straight past Brian, and out the door.

“You’re leaving?” Nick queried
“Would seem that way” Felicia sarcastically replied
“Please Licia don’t go, we can talk through this” Brian continued to beg
“I don’t want to talk Brian, I want to leave, I'm going home, and I’ll be out of the house be the end of the week” she mumbled her last words slightly muffled by tears

She marched up to the elevator just as the doors opened.
“Babe, where you off to?” AJ questioned with a smile
She glared up at him, her eyes stained with tears. Then simply pushed past him, Howie and Kevin, who had also exited the elevator.

“Felicia, it was an accident, it meant nothing” Brian called in one last ditch effort to get her to stay.
She put down the bag she was carrying and with no hint of expression starred around at the faces that were watching her.
“An accident?” she whispered
She walked up to Nick, and after taking a deep breath catapulted her lips onto his, out of shock Nick just stood there frozen. She worked his lips perfectly, devouring them with her own. As time stood still, she slithered her bottom lip across his, alluring his every sensation. She pulled away as quickly as she taken his lips captive and picked up her bag again.
Brian’s mouth had fallen to the ground along with his very heart, as everyone stood around in complete shock.
“An eye for an eye Brian. How does it feel to be on the other side?” she calmly spoke. She walked into the elevator and pushed the “door close” button. As the doors closed she allowed herself to cry the tears that she’d held back.

Brian bolted up to the elevator pounding on the doors.
“Open” he screamed at the silver doors
He looked around desperate for a way out. Spotting the stair well he darted over there and straight through the doors.

Felicia rushed outside the hotel, praying that a cab would be there.
“Felicia” a voice said behind her, as a hand lay hold of her shoulder
She spun around to see Kaylee’s semi-smiling face.
“You few all the way from New York to rub it in my face?” Felicia sniffed
“Of course not I was here on person business, then I wanted to see if you were alright” she lied with perfection
“Why would you care? You printed it. How the fuck do you think I feel?”
Kaylee’s eyes traveled to the bag in Felicia’s hand, she tried her hardest to not allow the brimming smile to show.
“You must be devastated, but you had a right to know” Kaylee replied trying her hardest to sound sincere
Felicia just choked a quite laugh and looked around for a taxi.
“I have a cab waiting, how about you come with me?” Kaylee suggested
Felicia shrugged, she just wanted to leave.
“I know we haven’t really been friend’s but maybe we could be” Kaylee pouted as she walked over to the cab she’d insisted stay put for the last half hour.

Brian felt the sharp pain in his stomach, but he was on a mission, he had to get to her before she left, he had to make her see how much he loved her. The pain ripped through his chest, the lump in his throat was ominous, but still he ran. Finally the ground floor, he sped out of the doors and straight through the foyer, nearly knocking over one of the baggage carriers.

“Felicia” he called running out into the dark of the night
His eyes jolted around the driveway searching for her.
“Wait” he called running over to the started cab as a women stepped in
“Felicia” he called knocking on the dark window of the back seat.
The window slowly wound down, and an older lady looked on bewildered as to Brian’s presence. Brian sighed loudly. As he looked up another cab drove past, the face on the other side of the window was so familiar to him., it was her.
He stumbled backwards, his breath short and his mouth dry. He’d missed her. He propped himself up against the wall, the pain echoing through his whole body.

“Brian?” Kate called running out into the dark with the others behind her

Brian heard their voices, but as they came closer, their voices became muffled. He looked up at the sky, which to him was nothing but a blur of darkness spotted with the occasional blur of light. He took a breath of air, but he couldn’t breath. Then at once he collapsed onto the cold concrete.
