Chapter 38: Sometimes The Truth Will Kill You
"I want the whole truth about
everything," he reminded me.
"Okay, the guy who is making all the threats, his name is
Victor. He had a brother named Brandon who went to school with
Kaylee and I. During that small period that Kaylee and I were
actually friends, Victor, Brandon, Kaylee and I would hang out
and eventually Brandon and I became a couple," I swallowed
the large lump in my throat.
"One night we went to some party and I drank some. Well we
had brought my car to the party and so when we left Brandon
insisted on driving because I was too drunk. He was always the
sober one. When we were driving home we crossed an intersection
and..." I stopped, holding back my tears, remembering the
incident from that night. Nick looked at me, his eyes wide with
curiosity.
"When we came to it a large tanker truck went through the
red light and smacked right into our car, hitting the driver's
side. Luckily the driver had been trying to stop so it didn't
knock us all the way across the intersection, but umm, Brandon
was hurt really bad. He was in a comma for a few days before he
passed on. I broke my arm and had some really bad cuts and
bruises, but I survived, obviously. Anyway, after all the
happened with Kaylee in college, Victor decided he wanted to
blame me for what happened because it was my car and I should
have been driving. That I shouldn't have drank at all, then I
would have been the one to drive and the one to die. So after
things got bad with Kaylee, they kind of hooked up to make my
life hell. I didn't know he blamed me for this until about a year
ago actually when Kaylee and I were having our usual argument and
she just blurted it out. And now Victor is back in town and he's
demanding some things from me." I looked at the ground,
ashamed of my past.
"What does he want?" Nick asked.
"He wants, he wants us to break up and wants me to quit my
job."
"Why?" He asked, annoyed.
"Because don't you get it? He doesn't want me happy because
I made him unhappy all those years he was without his brother and
still is," I threw my arms in the air, upset with the whole
situation. All of this was only coming back to me because of the
press with Nick. It's not that Nick wasn't worth it, it's just I
was afraid of him getting hurt.
"But it wasn't your fault that truck hit you. That was five
years ago, how can he still hold a grudge?"
"Kaylee, it's all because of her. She's knows how to get to
people, like Felicia," I muttered.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
"So are you back with that little sandy haired cutie?"
Kaylee asked.
Felicia rolled her eyes.
"It's just a test, get off it, will you?" She hissed
back at her.
"I like your way of thinking my dear. Oh, I gotta go,
company, ciao," Kaylee hung up the phone as Felicia's other
line beeped.
"Hello?"
"Hey licia, it's Brian," Brian said shyly down
the phone line.
"Oh hey, what's up?" She asked.
"I was wondering if you're busy today, I'm still in town, I
thought we could do somethin'?" He asked.
"Oh yeah, sure, I have the day off. Ummm, meet me here in an
hour, okay? It's down on tenth street, apartment number
115." Felicia hung up the phone and smiled.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
The phone rang as we both sat there staring at one another.
"Hello?" Nick answered.
"Nick, it's A.J., you busy man?"
"Naa, what's up?"
"Management got another phone threat last night, so they're
increasing our security and keeping us here until further
notice."
"Thanks man, I'll call you soon," Nick replied.
"Alright, later."
"Dammit," Nick muttered as he hung up the phone.
I looked up at him.
"What's up?"
"Nothing, come on, I need a cold shower," he replied,
grabbing my hand.
"So why am I coming?" I asked, batting my eyelashes.
"Shut up and come here," he said pulling me into him
and taking me into the bathroom.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
"Oh beautiful, you're sucha genius," Kaylee said to
Victor as she handed him some money.
"You know Kay, I can understand why I would hate Kate, but
your reason for hating her is just dumb," he chuckled.
"It's not funny you ass hole!" She shrieked and pushed
him into the couch.
"You're making this girl's life hell," he commented.
"Yeah and we're both enjoying it, so shut up," she said
as she stormed off into the kitchen. He shrugged as he counted
the one hundred dollar bills that were in his hands.
~AT THE SAME TIME~
I backed him into the cold tile wall, the shower on full blast
and kissed his lips with passion. IT had been a while since we'd
touched each other, every time we did, something happened. My
body craved him and wanted every inch of him near me.
He backed up and pushed me into the wall this time as he pressed
his body against mine, the water running from my hair all the way
down my body.
We always made love, but something was different about us today.
We just needed one another and it resulted in a roughness I'd
never seen in him before.
He dropped his head and kissed every inch of my body quickly yet
enticingly. He lifted me up and with one quick thrust was inside
of me. I let out a scream in pain as I clutched his back.
"You okay? I'm sorry," He asked, the water hitting the
back of his head.
"Yeah, it's just been a while, that's all," I smiled.
I ran my tongue across his shoulders and his neck, sucking up any
water that splattered from the showerhead.
I wrapped my arms around him tightly as he moved in and out of
me, causing an amazing sensation that ran throughout my body.
He put me down slowly before shutting off the water. I tried to
speak, but he cover my lips with his as he picked me up and
carried me into the bedroom.
"I'm not done with you yet missy," he teased as he
pounced on top of me and entered me once again.
I rubbed his back gently as I moaned in fulfillment.
"Nick...don't stop," I whispered in his ear, causing
him to go deeper inside of me.
"I've missed being this close to you, miss being inside of
you," he whispered back in my ear.
"Can we stay like this forever?" I asked back.
"If you want to Kaitlyn," he replied as he kissed my
neck and my chest.
~TWO HOURS LATER~
We both laid back, out of breath, sweat dripping off our faces.
What in the world happened to him? I smiled as I rolled over and
laid on him. He accepted me into his arms and smiled.
"Boy you've got some stamina," I teased. He kissed my
forehead when the doorbell rang.
Nick put on a pair of boxers and walked to the door.
"Hey man, what's up?" Brian asked, Felicia on his arm.
Behind him was Kevin and A.J.
They all stared at Nick, sweat coming off his forehead, wearing
boxers in the middle of the afternoon.
"Uhhh, did we interrupt something?" Kevin asked,
staring at Nick.
Nick blushed slightly as he let them in.
"No, not really, have a seat, I'll be right back," he
said walking quickly back into my room.
"Who's here?" I asked, covering myself.
"Kevin, A.J., Felicia and Brian," he stated, pulling on
his pants.
"So much for a quiet afternoon, huh?" I laughed as I
grabbed some clothes and went into the shower.
Nick pulled on his shirt as he walked into the living room.
"Kate will be out in a few, she's in the shower," he
cleared his throat as they all smiled at him.
"What!" He yelled as he strolled into the kitchen to
get a soda.
"God Nickay, you're a little sex-machine these days,"
A.J. broke out into a fit of laughter.
"And you? I don't see you getting any," he shot back as
he downed half his soda.
"What you don't see is always what brings you the most
pleasure," A.J. winked.
"Yeah, yeah, so what's up?" Nick asked.
"Well since we're pretty much stuck in New York with ten
security guys out the door, we thought we'd bring some movies by
and watch them," Brian replied, holding up a bag from one of
the local movie rental stores.
"Sure, sounds cool, it's not exactly a beautiful day
outside," Nick nodded to the falling rain outside.
"Where's D?" Nick asked, finishing the soda.
"He and John went shopping, if you want to call it that with
all the security," A.J. chuckled, getting comfortable on the
couch.
I walked out in a my bathrobe and brushing my hair as I greeted
everyone.
"Have a nice shower Kate?" A.J. taunted.
"Yeah why weren't you there baby?" She teased as she
picked up a pillow and chucked it at him.
The phone rang as everyone was chatting and I went to go pick it
up.
"Hello?"
"Nice bathrobe," Victor said.
I looked outside the windows and all around me. How could he see
me?
"Shut up ass hole," I said quietly.
"I thought I told you to get rid of lover boy and his dorky
friends?" He yelled in my ear.
I slammed down the phone and stared at it.
"Kate, who was that?" Nick asked as I walked towards
the curtains and the blinds and shut them tightly.
"He's watching," I replied under my breath so only Nick
could hear.
"We have to tell the security outside," Nick insisted.
"No, that'll only make things worse, just forget about it,
okay? I'll get to the bottom of it," I closed the last
curtain and walked back into my room to get dressed.
~ONE HOUR LATER~
The room was pretty dark as everyone was huddled on my couch
watching a scary movie. I sat on a stool at my counter top and
flipped through my address book. There had to be someone who
could help me handle this situation with Victor and Kaylee, but
who? First thing was first, Victor. After I dealt with him is
when I started my decent down the path that would end Kaylee's
schemes once and for all and get my damned job back.
Nick looked over at me nonchalantly as I glanced back at him. His
eyes were filled with worry, as were mine at what was going to
happen next.
As if a sign, without notice the power suddenly went out. The
television snapped off and so did the few lights I had on.
"What the hell?" A.J. said as he hit the television.
My cell phone ran on the counter and I grabbed it quickly.
"I thought I made myself clear about lover boy and his
friends. I want them all gone NOW! And I didn't tell you to spill
your past to lover boy. No one is to ever know the truth Kaitlyn!
You hear me? If you mutter one more word about me, not only will
I kill Nick, but I'll bring you his dick since that's the only
thing you two are enjoying lately!" He yelled and then hung
up.
"Fuck," I whispered as I shut off the phone.
"What's wrong?" Nick asked as everyone else sat around
the television.
"He shut off that power, that's what. He wants you all out
of here," I rubbed my head.
"I'm not leaving you alone."
"You might have to, otherwise he's going to keep playing
these stupid games."
"Kate, do you know what's going on here?" Kevin asked,
approaching us.
I closed my eyes and wished all of this would disappear, but when
I did, to no avail when I opened them, Kevin was still standing
there with questioning eyes as Brian, A.J., and Felicia looked on
behind him.
