Chapter Four: Face To Face - Memories Erased
I'm wondering now, perhaps I could never go through with my mission. Perhaps I cant harness the power that I need, I wonder maybe I fear power as much as others do. I shouldn't, I mustn't. Power is all important, I will fail without it - I mustn't fail.

"Morning James" Faith smiled as she opened the door for the 19 year old in a baggy pair of overalls
"Morning Faith" he replied, nodding his head
James McCaughly smiled as he ran a quick hand through his lush blond hair. He'd been working odd jobs fro Brian and Faith for a while now, they'd met through James' younger brother Carl who was a patient at the Children's Hospital where Faith had been working. He was tall and good looking, but carried himself like any normal hardworking 19 year old.
"Hey James" Brian smiled as he walked out of the living room
He turned his attention to faith, gently kissing her on the cheek.
"I have to go out for a while, I'll be back in a few hours, need me to pick up anything?" he questioned
Faith shook her head as Brian grabbed his keys from the table and strolled out the door.
"See you later" he announced as he closed the door behind him
"So what's on the agenda today?" James smiled as he placed his backpack onto the floor
"I think some of the tree's need cutting back if you don't mind" Faith replied
"That's what I'm here for" he laughed

"Who?" Lisa questioned, rubbing her temple gently
"Her names Kelly Houston, Carla Henderson sent her here" the other nurse repeated what she'd been told
"Carla sent her?" Lisa inquired in disbelief
Carla Henderson was the supervisor for the hospital maternity ward, she spent very little time actually in the hospital, most was sent in the administration of the hospital and meeting with others in the chain. She was far from friendly, in fact she was outright scary. Her tall, well built body towered over practically everyone, and she took crap from no one. And it was a known that she never allowed training nurses to the maternity ward.
"That's what all the paperwork says, I even rung the dragon, she says you're to look after her, she's to follow you around"
"Me? Why me?" Lisa whined
"Don't know, but that's what the orders say" the nurse shrugged as she walked out the door
Catherine stood back, this time in a short dark wig holding a knapsack tightly in her hands.
"You can go in there now, Lisa's expecting you"
Catherine smiled thankful as she strolled into the room and closed the door behind her. it had taken about an hour to 'convince' Carla Henderson to let her up here when she talked to her last night at her home. Catherine smiled to herself, there were some shit crazy people at that insitute but every once and a while you find someone useful.
"Ms. Houston is it?" Lisa smiled from behind her desk "Kelly" Catherine smiled
"Kelly then" Lisa replied "I don't know how you did it, but Carla has allowed you to train around here for some time"
"I'm really greatly honored, Carla has given me a wonderful opportunity"
"I'm sure she has. There are just a few rules"
"I'm all ears"
"we get quite a few couple in here that like to remain quite to people outside of the hospital, so here at Saint Paul we have a very strict privacy act. I have one couple who are like this, and I will have to clear you're been here with them before hand. I hope you can understand that"
Catherine nodded, that was sure to be Faith and Brian. She was confident that they would allow her to assist, however she was going to play it very safe, this would be the call.

"I've gotta go out for a while, I'll be back shortly"
Faith smiled as she locked the door behind her, James busy cutting back some of the trees
"Not a problem" he waved behind him, his eyes firmly on the job
Faith slipped on her sunglasses as she slid into the front seat of the green Porsche. The crisp air blew lightly around her, the sun high and bright in the sun. She yawned only slightly, the effects of pregnancy finally coming on. She was hardly big considering she was quite a way along. Her stomach barely peaked as the baby lay in a nice tight ball. She drove off quickly, waving once again to James who'd started trimming the oak trees.
The drive was pleasant, most of the world about the city area she guessed. The ride through Tampa was neither rushed nor slow, but rather and easy pace set by whatever speed she determined. She sighed a little. She missed the old country estate where they had first lived. She could boldly remember the nights she'd planned exactly how things would go. She could picture a playground in the backyard, the open patio would be where she'd sit, watching the children play. She knew Brian missed it too. They had moved quickly out of it, the bare sight of it holding too many bad memories. The new house was an amazing piece of architecture, it's tall structure plated with large glass windows and modern edges. It had a spacious backyard that ran down to a dock by the water, but it hadn't been where the two had decided to spend the rest of their lives together. It had a room upstairs dedicated to been a study, and home of Brian's recording equipment until the basement could be properly sorted.
She pulled into the hospital drive way and found a park without any trouble.

"Now Faith is a lovely girl, but unfortunately in the past they've had a few problems with some people, so privacy and security is very high on the couples list" Lisa explained as Catherine sat listening attentively
"She a princess or something" she laughed, a smile brimming on her face
"You'd think so, but no, just a celebrity"
"That's so sad, some people destroy people lives because their married to a celebrity" Lisa looked up from her paper work.
"I never said she was married to one, do you know her?" he eyes narrowed it
"No, I thought that's what you said"
Lisa studied her for a minute. Carla was incredibly strict about this sort of thing. She would have done background checks surely. Lisa sighed, she really had no cause to worry.
"Never mind" she shrugged
Catherine sighed to herself, she hadn't noticed but she had been holding her breath. Damn you Catherine, you're losing your edge she hissed to herself.

"Lisa, Faith's here to see you" a small nurse announced, peaking her head into the room
Lisa stood up and subconsciously straightened her skirt.
"I'll be back in just a minute, if you'll excuse me" she said softly as she edged her way out of the room
Faith greeted her with a soft smile as if the two were best friends.
"I have something to discuss with you, if you don't mind" Lisa smiled as she opened to door to an empty office down the hall.
Faith stepped in, her face barely giving away a look of anxiety.
"I've been given an intern to basically look after. I'm not sure why this has happened, but my superior has handed her to me, basically to let her see how things work on a practical level. Now because of the privacy act, I need to make sure this suites you, otherwise something will have to be worked out" Faith sat back gently into the chair. Ordinarily she wouldn't have minded, but because of the past, and Brian's strict privacy worries, she had more to take into consideration. Perhaps he'd made things a little over the top, but he didn't want history to repeat itself, and especially not now their child was on the way. He spent money, time and effort protecting her and their privacy, installing high fences and security cameras, refusing to mention anything about his private life to the media, so she couldn't possibly make this decision without him.
"I think I'll need to talk with Brian, you know how he is" she smiled softly as she pulled a cell phone from her bag
"I understand Faith" Lisa smiled, walking from the room, to give her some privacy
Faith dialed quickly and waited patiently for an answer
"Hey Baby" Brian laughed down the phone
"I need to ask you something" Faith spoke softly
"Sure, shoot"
She rattled off exactly what Lisa had told her, adding in that the head of the department would have already done background checks and wouldn't let just anyone onto the staff. She heard Brian sigh softly in the background. She bit her lip in expectation of his answer, she desperately didn't want to change midwives at this point in time.
"Why don't you stay there for a bit, I'll come down. I know you don't want to change midwives, but I'd feel better meeting face to face, you know"
"I think that's the best option" Faith smiled.
It only took around 10 minutes for Brian to arrive at the hospital. Lisa smiled courteously at him as the 3 wandered down to her office where Catherine was still waiting.
They walked in, and Catherine almost jumped when she saw Brian, she was never expecting him. Hold your ground she announced to herself don't let him rattle you
"Kelly, this is Mr. & Mrs. Littrell, they wanted to meet you first" Lisa introduced
"I completely understand, having a baby is a very private thing, so I understand y'all having reservations"
Catherine smiled, shaking both their hands
Brian looked at her deeply. His eyes practically burning into her, something about her was familiar, but nothing he could place, he'd never seen her before, he was sure.
Catherine smiled at the looked of perplex on Brian's face, he didn't recognize her.

Written in sand
