Epilogue

Brian helped greet all the guests, taking their hands and shaking them gently. He was relieved to see A.J., Kevin, Howie and Nick arrive in their clown suits.
“I’m so nervous,” he replied.
“Don’t be, tell the world how you feel, they want to hear, they need to hear,” Kevin patted his cousin on the back just as the reverend urged them all to take their seats.

~15 MINUTES LATER~
Brian was called to the stand as he stood before a tearful church.
He began with a flashback to the childhood that Tia and he had shared, letting everyone in on a few of those silly moments he and Tia had had, giving everyone a sense of belonging to her life.

“I know that we are all sad today and will be for the rest of our lives with one of God’s children missing,” his southern voice echoed throughout the church, “but Tia wanted to be where she is today, to stop the suffering and the life that tormented her. She wants you all to know that she is in a much happier place and is looking down on us right now. I, or we, shouldn’t feel like the strong ones, the courageous ones, because the courage should go to Tia for all of her strength and will that she shared with all of us and for the war with her body that she fought day after day. We are not the brave ones for living this life without her, she is the brave one for leaving this world and being in the unknown and for that, she deserves more than a smile or a tear, she deserved a purple heart.”

Brian put his index card back in his jacket and walked off the stage, wiping the tears away and using the courage she had taught him to move on with the rest of his life.

I want to thank all of the people that read this story, it’s my first completed Brian story and also give a very big thanks to VixX for hosting yet another one. Love you guys!
