Chapter One: It’s Destiny
“Argh No, stop, Marty stay still,” Faith screamed as she pulled back on the leash around her Golden Retriever.
The intense Florida sun beat down against her already tanned back. Her dark hair was pulled back loosely in a ponytail, as the disobedient dog splashed her for the millionth time.
“You sure you don’t want some help?” Brian called from the second story window
“Uhuh, no I'm fine” she responded, taking her eye off the Marty for a second.
That short time was enough for Marty to run a ring around her legs. The leash pulled tight against her legs and sent her bum first into the small paddling pool. Brian couldn’t contain his laughter as Faith pulled her soapy wet body from the pool.
“Yeah you would think it’s funny” she mocked heaving a sponge in his direction, but missing by about a meter.
Brian smiled cautiously as he stared down at the women who had captivated him 2 years ago, Faith Carmen Traven. They had met a while back at Orlando Hope Hospital, a children’s hospital, where Brian along with the others were asked to visit a seven year old called Tessa, born with aids, after her mother had a blood transfusion, it was her one wish to see the Backstreet Boys.
“Love at first sight” Brian muttered to himself
He’d fallen in love with Faith the day he saw her, one year later, they were living together in a plush house on the outskirts of Orlando a 2 story house with a basement, surrounded by acres of lush grass and trees, and without a neighbor in sight.
~LATER THAT NIGHT~
“Well don’t you scrub up pretty well” Faith sighed as she wrapped her arms around Brian’s waist, leaning her head against his back “Making dinner too I see” she laughed as he stood poised over a boiling pot of what looked like meat sauce.
“That I am” Brian grinned, overly pleased with himself
He’d been home only a few days, and it all made a change rather than life on the road. It gave him a sense of belonging to simply take out the garbage.
Faith’s bare feet patted across the fully tiled kitchen and dining.
“It’s a beautiful night, don’t you think?” she whispered as she pushed open the patio doors. A gush of crisp Florida air enveloped her as she stepped out onto the wooden patio, which lead down onto the garden and pool area. She swooped around to the head of the pool and dipped her left foot in only a margin, feeling the water.
“Mmm, the waters beautiful” she breathed as she pulled off the white tank top she was wearing
“How can I resist it?” she added, throwing it to the ground
Her tight denim cut off’s were next, tossing them away like rubbish. She slithered into the pool, step by step, letting the crisp water encase her as she breathed in the silent night.
“You gonna join me baby?” she inquired as Brian stood in the doorway of the kitchen
Brian laughed softly. Faith had never lived or loved by the rules, that flare for life is what drew Brian to her, and what kept him there.
~ AT THE SAME TIME ~
Catherine Evans, a petite 23 year old, stood deathly still as she starred at the blank canvas in front of her. She had only a mere sheet wrapped around her small body as she picked up the forgiving paintbrush.
“Cathy, come back to bed” Jason groaned from under then bed covers as Catherine switched on the lamp beside her
“That’s not my name” she replied coldly
Jason muttered something to himself as he flipped over, and delved his head under a pillow.
The drawing came easily to Catherine, his eyes, that what it always was, she had thousands of paintings all of his eyes, smiling at her off the canvas, daring her to come to him, drawing her in like a mouse to the cheese. Those simple blue eyes held her world, they held her entire life.
She squirmed as she looked over to lifeless lump under the bed covers.
Soon enough I’ll be rid this apartment, and you she thought to herself as her brush strokes covered the canvas. Soon, we’ll be together Brian, I promise, its destiny she sighed, starring up at the ceiling, as though it were a prison.
