Chapter Four: Out Of Control

~ LATER THAT NIGHT ~

Brian smiled wickedly as he yanked the magazine from Faith’s hands.
“Hey I was reading that” she announced as he tossed it to the floor
“And you’ve been reading them for the last five years” Brian exaggerated as he slipped on top of her, his face hovering over hers
“Come on Brian, I just want everything to be perfect” Faith pouted
“It will be, hell we could get married on a fishing trawler and it still would be perfect, cause you’re there” he smiled brushing his hand down the side of her face
“A fishing trawler, how romantic” Faith laughed as Brian leaned down to kiss her neck
“Romance is in the eye of the beholder” Brian mumbled between soft sensuous kisses
His hand slipped under her camisol, edging against her soft skin.
“Why Mr. Littrell” she gasped as his fingers ran circles around her breasts
“You bet baby” he grinned, with a smile that reached from ear to ear, as he pulled the large duvet up and over the two of them.

~ AT THE SAME TIME ~

“Decadent Cakes, Massey Speaking” the voice answered.
Catherine had rung the after hours number and by the sounds of it, she’d waken them up, but that wasn’t her problem, she had work to do.
“Ah Hi, this is Faith Traven” she sniffed, her voice switching to a softer than usually voice. That was one of Catherine’s talents, which she really grew to love with each day, she had the ability to replicate peoples voices, and accent. Ever since she was young, she’d impersonated people, from her parents to her teachers, and with each day she was simply refining her talent.
“I made an arrangement for a cake for you, a couple of weeks ago, under the name Faith, for the 15th of August, look I’m sorry to be such a pain, a month till the wedding day and all, but I’d like to cancel that”
“You would?”
“Yes” she sniffed again on cue “My fiancé left me, so it’s all over” she cried – this was too easy
“Oh well dear I'm sorry to hear that”
“Oh it’s not your fault, thank you, goodbye” she added before hanging up
“One down” Catherine grinned to herself. She was going to make this wedding, anything but in control.

~ 2 WEEKS LATER ~

Catherine filed her fingers as she sat bored in her car, she’d been watching Faith for just over 2 weeks now, she knew everything about her, where she hung out, where she shopped, what size clothes she wore, where her friends lived. Now it was her time to strike.

“Patience is a virtue” she calmed herself, as the thought of it drove her insane. She was sure taking Faith’s life was going to be easy, she’d slot right in there, and no one would ever notice.

~ LATER THAT AFTERNOON ~

“So two weeks left huh?” Marie smiled, brushing her long sweeping hair behind her ear
“Yip” Faith nodded “Is it normal to have this awful feeling?” Faith questions as the two sat under the umbrella on the patio
“What like everything’s going to go wrong?”
Faith nodded slowly.
“Girl you’ve been watching too many of America’s funniest wedding’s, I swear that program is a curse” Marie laughed sipping back on the orange juice in her hand
“No I'm serious Marie, I have this weird feeling, that nothing is going to go right”
“So double check, ring all the places you booked, the people you hired, make sure it’s all okay, reassurance” Marie grinned proudly to herself, that was quite a suggestion if she did say so herself
“You’re right, I'm going to do that, right now” Faith announced grabbing the cordless phone”

She dialed Decadent Cakes first, and waited patiently for an answer.
“Decadent cakes, Massey speaking” a voice announced clearly
“Hi, this is Faith Traven I just want to check a booking?”
“Date?”
“August 15th, under the name Faith”
There was a short silence as Massey searched for the name
“I'm sorry, are you sure you made this booking?”
“Yes, yes I'm sure” Faith announced
“Oh dear, and you didn’t cancel it?”
“No”
“Well I'm sorry but someone called in about 2 weeks ago saying their name was Faith Traven and canceled the booking”
“What?”
“I'm sorry, but that’s what we have”
“Well can you add me in or something?”
“I'm sorry, we have no available booking’s, Lord I'm so sorry”
“Thank you” Faith muttered in disbelief as she hung the phone up

Faith got the same response from the Reception Hall, The Caterer and the Band. Her mind spun around in circles, who’d done this? Why? When?

~ THAT NIGHT ~

“So that was it, that was all they could tell you?” Brian inquired as Faith filled him in on the details
“Yes” she whined her arms outstretched on the dining room table
“How is that possible?” Brian muttered pacing around the tiled floor
“I don’t know, I mean I’ve had it all planned, everything, and then those four things are canceled” she huffed slamming her hand into her jean pocket, remembering only then the crad she'd placed in them the last time she wore them. She didn’t have time to find substitutes for everything, but a wedding coordinator would.
“Brian, I know you didn’t really want to involve anyone outside in this wedding, but I met a wedding coordinator two weeks ago, she gave me her card, maybe we could call her”
Brian sighed quietly. Faith was right, he didn’t want to complicate things, especially with the media fanfare around, and that meant keeping the arrangements as hushed as possible, but he also knew there was only 2 weeks left, he couldn’t change that, and he also knew that as organized as she could be, Faith couldn’t cope with shuffling everything around, and he sure as hell didn’t have the time or energy to do that either.
“I think that’s a good idea” he smiled walking around to the back of the chair. His hands slipped around her neck.
“Chelsea Jackson” he announced with a forged accent
