CHAPTER 17 – IS IT POSSIBLE TO LOVE TWO PEOPLE?
AJ banged on the hotel room door, the anger inside of him wanting to boil through. The door slowly opened as a tired looking Amanda, wrapped in a bathrobe stood on the other side of the door.
"You’re lying" AJ snapped pushing through into the room
"Nice to see you too" Amanda muttered sarcastically as she closed the door behind him
"The marriage, you’re lying, you have to be"
"Why? Cause AJ’s screwed things up with the little red head?"
"Don’t start with me" AJ hissed, glaring across at her.
"You know, despite what anybody would think, we used to love each other"
"Uhuh. But the word there is Used to Amanda, I’ve moved on, why cant you"
"God, don’t flatter yourself AJ, I don’t give a damn about you, that red head just pisses me off" Amanda laughed flicking her dark hair behind her ears "as I'm sure I piss her off" she added with a wink
"You said you dissolved the marriage"
"I say a lot of things to make you happy" she laughed quietly
"Tell me the truth, for once in your life, fucking tell me the truth, are we still married" AJ screamed pacing around the room
"No, we’re not" she shrugged yawning slightly
"Then why the hell did you say that we were?"
"Why not" she winked, opening the door
"You should leave now, go plead and beg to your little girlfriend" she continued
"Do you even have a heart?" AJ mumbled storming back out of the door, in the same fashion he’d gone in
"I think you took care of that a long time ago" she called slamming the door promptly after he left.
~ THE NEXT MORNING ~
Nick starred at the repeat of the basketball game on TV, but it held no interest to him, not after last night. As much as he tried, or wanted to, he couldn’t push past that in his head. He played with the promise ring, Bianca had given him a while back, that sat silent on his right index finger, perhaps silently tormenting him.
He was petrified, no other way around it. He dreaded in his heart that he would stay with Bianca simply because it was the ‘best option’ and perhaps it was – but he knew if he chose that route one question would always remain – was it right? Could he possibly continue loving Bianca the way he knew she needed to be love, knowing that he’d betrayed her? Knowing that he still – deep down – had feelings for Arora, feelings which he was positive wouldn’t just vanish. Bianca had always told him with love they could overcome anything, but this time he doubted such words would hold true.
~ AT THE SAME TIME ~
Tatum stirred from her sleep, her head pounding, her eyes crusted shut, her head swarming with nothing but dull memories of the night before. Silently she urged herself out of bed, certain she should be up by now. She opened her eyes to unfamiliar surroundings. Confused she flipped over, and gasped.
"Howie?" she mumbled in disbelief, seeing his body asleep next to her.
~ AT THE SAME TIME ~
"Hello, Arora, come on, time to get up sleepy head" Bianca laughed as she knocked on Arora’s door.
Arora had a habit of sleeping in, and Bianca was essentially completely the opposite, rising early in the morning, and wanting everyone else to be up at that time too. It was now 10:00 am and Bianca was sure it was time for Arora to haul ass outta bed, or at least knocking on the door served as some sort of entertainment.
"Wakey, wakey sleepyhead. I’m going to come in, so you better not be naked" she announced turning the door handle slowly.
The door opened easily, as the bed came into view, Bianca stopped dead in her tracks a smile forming on her face.
"Well, well, this IS interesting" she laughed picking up a t-shirt off the floor and heaving it onto the two that lay in the bed.
It hit Brian square on the face, and he bolted upright, the sheet still covering the bottom half of his body.
"Morning Brian" Bianca smiled leaning up against the wall
"Ah, hey Bianca" Brian responded as Arora stirred beside him.
"Morning sleepyhead" Bianca waved as Arora’s eyes opened slowly "now ah, you two, time to get outta bed" Bianca grinned as she walked back out the room, closing the door behind her, smiling to herself.
"Morning" Brian smiled his hand brushing the side of Arora’s body
She smiled up at him, as a yawn escaped from her mouth.
"Rose, will we ever love again, the way we used to?" Brian inquired out of the blue
"What do you mean?" Arora replied sitting up slowly, the sheet draped around her body
"I mean we used to feel so much, we used to be so close. Will we ever have that back? I miss that." He responded softly
"I don’t know" Arora replied coyly – it was the truth, she didn’t know. He was her first love – but she was unsure if he would be her only love.
"Arora can I ask you something?"
Arora nodded slowly, her green eyes catching the gaze of his blue ones.
"So much has changed over the last year, but in my heart I know that one thing, no matter the time will always be constant, and that’s my love for you. I know what I said, but I only ever said that to you, because I thought you deserved better, and now Arora I'm doing what I should have done, I'm telling you that I love you, and that nothing will ever, ever, stop that love. And all I want to know is if you feel that too? Do you, can you ever love me like that?"
Arora starred at him blankly, she knew the answer he wanted to hear, she knew the answer she wanted to say, but the truth was somewhat shaded by one thing, by one person, one person that no matter how hard she tried she couldn’t simply forget about. Was it possible to love two people?
