CHAPTER 48 – END OF AN ERA


Tatum, Chastity, Bianca and Arora sat in the far corner of the café during the lunchtime crowd. The news of the engagement spread rapidly, for Arora and Brian both agreed they had no reason to hide it. Bianca and Nick were deciding to keep the pregnancy quite for a little longer, telling only family and close friends.

“Guys, I have something to show you” Chastity beamed proudly.
She stood up and slithered past Tatum. She removed the jacket she was wearing to reveal her pink strapless top. She spun around showing them her brand new decoration.

“Oh my god, you got a tattoo” Tatum shrieked, cupping her open mouth with her hand
All eyes focused in on the old stock English Gothic writing of the word Vixen across the space between her shoulder blades. She smiled brightly as she turned back around.

“I decided I needed to just do this, I needed to live for the moment” she announced joyously
“It looks fucking awesome” Bianca declared
Tatum sighed quietly.
“You don’t like it?” Chastity inquired, leaning down on the table
“No, Chas, its not that. It’s this” she sniffed
“I'm not following” Chastity replied
“Look at us, do you remember when we were like 16 sitting in McDonalds discussing the latest movie? And now things are changing, my baby” she smiled looking at Bianca “Is having a baby, Arora’s engaged, and we know she’ll be married soon, things are changing, don’t you guys ever wonder about the future”
“Like if we’ll still be friends?” Arora questioned
Tatum nodded, getting a solemn look from the others as the contemplated the idea.
“We’ll always be best mates” Chastity announced a tear forming in the corner of her eye
“Will we? I'm going back to LA, I’ve been offered a film roll in England. Chas, you want to travel, you wanna live for now. Do you think Vixen, as four friends can survive that?”
Silence swept over the girls.

“We have to try” Bianca announced “We’ve been through far too much to just say that’s it, our friendship won’t last”
“People and circumstances change” Tatum spoke
“But Friends don’t, not if they try”
“I say we make a pack” Chastity said, sitting back down
“No matter what we do, no matter where we go, no matter who we’re with, we’ll always be Vixen, and well always be friends”
“Vixen forever” Chastity sniffed extending her hand across the table to Arora
“Vixen forever” Arora repeated, taking Chastity’s and Bianca’s hand
“Vixen forever” Bianca smiled holding her hand back across the table to Tatum
Tatum breathed in slowly and took her hand.
“Vixen forever” she cried, taking Chastity other hand
“No matter what, no matter where, no matter who, we’ll always be forever in our hearts” Chastity beamed, a soft tear streaming down her face.

Okay, now what’s going to happen is the epilog will spill off into four, one for each girl, then meet for a final one – to make it more personal they will be written from the each girls point of view.
