I couldn't believe it I was going to be killed in another turn.  I couldn't handle the pressure of two cursed scrolls staring me in the face.  So I placed my hand over my library and willed the card I needed to the top.  I drew and almost instantly a huge smile was drawn across my face.  My opponent was obviously worried.  So I tapped a mountain and then a forest and then another mountain and played a fires of Yavimaya.  My opponent looked at me and said "that that was not the card you drew."  My smile grew.  Next I tapped four forest and with an evil laugh I played a ......................................................................... .................................................................................................................................

So what's the deal with Magic latly.  My normal Saturday play group as been desolate of Magic for awhile now.  We've been doing other things like D&D and Star Wars rpg.  We play things like Robo Rally and Aggravation.  We've even played a couple games of Pokemon..but there has been no Magic.  We plan on having a 7th ed. Tournement when it comes out but we have to wait forever for that.  I know a couple of friends of mine still have there cards and still play but they are very upset by the domination that the tournement scene has had on our casual play.  It's hard not to be asked by someone before playing a game if you are playing type 2 or extended.  The thing I love about magic is the creativity of creating a deck all on your own.  Not taking a template off the internet so you don't get your (pardon my French) ass kicked.  One of my favorite decks I ever made failed miserably at states but it was fun.  I don't dare stick it up here though because I am afraid that someone is going to take it and turn it into a tounement worthy deck and in turn take ALL THE FUN OUT OF IT!  Wizards tried bring fun back into the game by creating unglued...and while that was fun the cards where over broken and could not be made into tournemnt decks.  Now it seems that Wizards is once again trying to build fun back into magic by creating lots of broken cards and bringing back old favorites like Serra Angel and Shivan Dragon.  For some reason I don't think that that is going to work either.  Wizards needs to understand that the reason why people are so upset and frustrated with magic is because of the tournement scene dominating casual play.  Cool it with the tournements for awhile and maybe peoples intrest will be renewed.
