Welcome to ACS toastmasters. We are a friendly club that meet in the Brisbane CBD the first and third Wednesdays each month. We meet at lunch times for 1 hour which makes us very convenient for people who work in or near the city, and who may not have the time to attend an evening club.

Why Toastmasters?

Toastmasters in an international non-profit educational organisation. The primary focus is to help its members improve their speaking and leadership skills, but there are may reasons people join Toastmasters but can include;

  •  Improve your speaking abilities giving greater self-confidence.
  •  Control nervousness when giving presentations.
  •  Write structured speeches that are interesting and well received.
  •  Help with impromptu speaking, thinking on your feet.
  •  Learn how to conduct meetings.
  •  Make some new friends and have some fun.

We offer a supportive environment to help you achieve these goals. Better than reading a book, you learn from watching experienced speakers. Skills gained can help you if you give presentations at as a part of your job, to your P&C committee, or anywhere you need to speak to a group in public. Some people just want keep their minds active and improve their self confidence.

What you can achieve through Toastmasters

Within the Toastmasters organisation you progress is rewarded with a number of internationally recognised certifications that lead to the next. The first level is Competent Commmicator (CC) which requires you to complete 10 speeches focusing on structure, voice and gesturing. After these speeches are completed you apply for the Competent Communicator certification.   •  Competent Communicator (CC)
  •  Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB)
  •  Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS)

  • Competent Leader (CL)
  • Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB)
  • Advanced Leader Silver (ALS)

Highest Award

  • Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM)

About ACS Toastmasters

Originally started as a corporate club for the Australian Customs Service, the club has been established 10 years. We have grown into a diverse club with a good mix of experienced and novice members. Visitors are welcome to attend as many meetings as they wish without obligation (to speak or join).
