| In 1967, George, Pattie, Beatle assistant Derek Taylor and "Magic" Alex Mardas went to LA. Jenny Boyd was living there at the time and was planning on returning to England, so they went to see her. In this same trip, they went to San Francisco to visit the Haight-Ashbury area, which was the center of hippie philosophy at the time. George was horrified to see that it was just a group of drugged teenagers, and not the magical atmosphere he expected to find there. |
