Alka in Current Times

Pentex and the Wyrm having lost the war both on the ground and in the Umbra, opted for a more subtle strategy - poluting the atmosphere with Wyrm Toxins. It didn't help that a group of Verbena and Dreamspeaker Mages failed to use Volcanoes to right the balance and ended up creating a Paradox effect that ripped a hole in the defences Antartica put up against the heat of the Sun. Consequently, Antartica is warming, and the ice packs slowly declining.

There are also the problems of human colonisation; they are making larger and larger advances into the Alka's terrain. The Alka and their kinfolk have slowed down the encroachment, but Technocratic 'invention' is slowly allowing humans to brave more of the cold for longer.

The result of this is that the Alka have been forced to move out to seek aid from Gaia's other servants, perhaps even helping others if in the long run it helps Antartica and their kinfolk. Many have become noted experts on penguins, others have become photographers - noting the way that humans find their kinfolk and their Dytis form 'cute'

The Delirium
Alka don't suffer from the delirium as Garou do, but they do cause a similar effect as most humans don't believe that a 7 foot Penguin-Monster could exist (replace the gung-ho response with hysterical laughter...).

On Playing Alka
Although Alka walk and look comic to humans, especially in their Dytis forms, once underwater, Alka are quick and agile. In their native territary, with the cold biting into their enermies, they can take down Rokea without much effort. In groups they can take down groups of Rokea outside their native terrain, mainly thanks to their gifts and their speed. However on land they are clumsy and slow, and will normally walk in Homid form away from the Antartic cold.
