"Danya!" Cherryl yelled down the hall after the angry greenrider stomped off down dimly lit hall. "Get back here!" She shook her head as the girl whirled on her heels to face the shorter woman a distance away.

"Oh, yeah, and by the way, fix these shardin' glows!" Adanya yelled at her former best friend. Rider'mine, were you just a little too harsh? Xiath, Adanya's better half asked quietly from the sunny Weyrbowl.

Xia, for once in your life, stop giving me advice- k? Adanya lessened her mental tone to appease the emerald outside. Since the Impression looong ago, Adanya had developed a temper, which it seemed that only Xiath was sucessful in calming her down. That fact was also surprising, since Xia was normally bossy, always giving advice and never heeding her own words. Like rider, like dragon they say of the truth.

As Adanya stomped down the hall, she headed for the brightness of the 'bowl where she knew that Xiath would have gently descened and be waiting for her. A good fly was what she needed. The end of the hall came all too soon and the small green was patiently waiting on the other side fo the weyrbowl. The small green was a sleek creature and Adanya loved every inch of her leathery hide, despite the advice (both good and bad) frequently given.

'Danya, do you want to get your gear? Xiath asked with care, toning down her rider's explosive mood.

Green Xiath

Do you honestly think it's necessary? Adanya wondered as she ran a hand over Xiath's gleaming hide, her mood settling down slowly. The green put out a foreleg in response and Adanya settled comfortably into the nook that fit her oh-so perfectly. How Thesia and Solenia would die with envy. Die fo envy? I don't think they'd do that... Xiath replied skeptically as Adanya hugged her sineous neck.

Danya didn't ride bareback often, but she knew Xiath would never lose her balance, much less let her fall. The pair, as did all other lifemates, had complete and utter trust in one another. As much as she tried Adanya could never force herself to lie to her bonded, and the two could never stay angry at each other.

Life at Falas was great too. They were wingriders and since the Hatching, Adanya had made a new best friend with more... more gusto than at Aden WeyrHold. The pair had also to ride with Aden- Falas being first choice of course. Xiath had also flown once, but no eggs resulted since the pair chose to allow Xiath to chew 'stone...

"Come on. These dimglows aren't our type." The girl declared loudly as she tossed back her thick mane of mahogany-brown hair and swished off down the glow lighted hallway with her two friends. The boys in question were left stunned, they had just fixed themselves up and prepared themselves to ask the three prettiest girls in the Hold to the Gather.

Unfortunately, the boys' parents had no more rank then a cotholder and that small item posed a problem in the area of possibility. The trio of girls might have been the prettiest, but they were three of the snobbiest, their parents each a minor Holder. In the perspective of snobiness, the trio was outranked only by the Lord Holder's own offspring.

The leader of the famous trio was Adanya, famous for her blunt honesty and harsh critism. Her comments stung and her wit was quick. She was, by no means, a dimglow. Her leadership was strong, and she had few friends who could stand this aspect of her personality, Thesia and Solenia included.

Adanya, or Ada as her mother knew her, was strict with others in order for them to achieve her level of work that she expected. She was highly intelligent and would excel in the records of Harpercraft except for her smoking rebuke of the way they teach. Her voice is also strong, loud and hearable, but most definitely unsuitable for singing being too deep of use for a girl of her age.

Her best friends (and companions in critism) were Thesia and Solenia, the more silent components of the terrible trio, were no less dangerous, but Adanya usually voiced enough opinions for all three. Thesia had a beautiful voice and showed off in the Hold wide contests, but preferred not to go to the Harpercraft, where she would, most definitely, be out sung. That was not high on any of the threes' lists. The trio had to be the best. Adanya accepted her lack of singing talent, and applied her skills to other, more pressing, matters. In this case, the verbal rejection of the poor boys left back in the hallway.

Bronze Eidde Thesia and Solenia nodded and Solenia glanced over back her shoulder at the trio of boys left stunned in the hallway. Solenia was the least critical of the group and tended to bring up the more rational parts of reality. She grounded the group from Adanya's lofty, sometimes unreasonably high, expectations. As the trio glided down the hall, towards the main Meeting Room, a sun-bronzed flit popped out from \Between\ and not soon after, a klah-brown followed with a querying cheep.

The flits circled Adanya's lengthy, reddish-streaked brown hair and cheeped as the trio continued their slowing walk. The bronze landed on a carefully padded shoulder beneath a light hide vest prepared for the creature's sharp nails. The brown was content to settle on Adanya's outstretched arm.

Adanya had one infinite weakness: animals. She loved the creatures, big, small, odd and common. Tamed tunnel snakes were somehow adorable, and appealed to her warped sense of cuteness. A wherry's deep brown eyes and innocent (by her standards) expression could send her into fits of baby talk to the poor creature.

Eidde, the bronze, was Adanya's since she was six turns (some 10 odd turns ago) and Issil, the brown, was a much younger flitter, being only of about two turns. Issil's egg was a gift from a long-past boy. One forgotten except in name, him sharing names with the brown. Another thing that was commonly utilized by Adanya was her use of selective memory and awareness. She could remember a Gather from a few Turns ago and the sort of guy she danced with, but asking her to remember the boy who gave her the flit was not priority.

Adanya stopped walking and softly crooned to her settling flitters. Firelizards were friendly creatures by nature, being human-bred, but took to Adanya more than any other. That was odd, as the girl had a strong personality, a tough exterior and was never crossed. Surely, creatures as feeling as those, sensitive to every mood swing, would be repelled by her unfeminine mental strength. Maybe she wasn't as tough as she appeared...

Solenia still wasn't as sure of herself, being turns younger, and was a dangerous component of the group, although more slightly more laid back. She was raised in a much smaller Holding than the other two and had many more siblings, compared to Adanya's three and Thesia's four. As the dinner bell rang, the group huddled quickly and decided to skip dinner, opting to go down to the dock to watch the sun set.

Laughing at the rebuke of the poor boys, Adanya's deep hazel eyes glinted in the light of the setting sun, the water bouncing reds and oranges off her slim, tanned face. At the end of the short dock, Thesia sat with her bare feet trailing in the multi-colored water and Adanya did the same, enjoying the gentle lap of the water and quiet conversation of her friends. Apparently, Solenia had liked one boy of the group.

"Forget him, Sol." Adanya said with a serious tone and light laugh, her features merry, "There are better fish in the sea. If you'll forgive my pun, and they are more worthy of you." She declared with a twinkle in her eyes, "Not to mention for us." She said indicating herself and Thesia. "You do know that that trio was inseparable..." Leaving the thought hanging.

Solenia pondered that for a moment, before tugging on her twin runners tails, "Yes. Well, there is another boy I do like. He is one of the Holder's sons." She concurred.

Thesia smiled. "Are you talking about Eletin?" She removed her soft shoes and trailed her feet in the water, her toes forming circles and shapes. Thesia was the Harper of the group.

Adanya stared idly at the setting sun and watched it with an unknown sadness. While Thesia and Solenia chatted about the Lord Holder's son, Adanya ran her toes through the water. Enjoying the rush of the cool liquid between her toes, she watched as small fish tried to nip at her toes as she swung them back and forth.

Moments later indecisiveness set in and she stood. Shaking off her petite feet, droplets of water rained around her ankles. She slipped back on her customary soft hide boots and rolled the legs of her tanned-hide jumper back down to cover the tops of the high, slim boots. She fixed the empty padded shoulder of the jumper and realized the weight of Eidde had long since disappeared, the place where his tiny body had laid was soft and cool, like the sweet breeze that caressed the three with gentle promises.

Seeing that Adanya had stood and put her shoes on, the other two stood and did the same, still talking of the Holder boy. They glanced at Adanya, who stood entranced watching the sun set over the rippling waters of the ocean. Shaking her head, Adanya decided firmly, "Let's go back. Otherwise we won't have any light to go by and we didn't bring any glows." She added knowingly, "Also, that boy, the Lord Holder's son, he is cute, but he is a true dimglow. Don't waste your time on him." With that, the girls ceased their talk and walked back to the Hold in the growing darkness. Adanya, with her long stride, set the pace and the other two scrambled to keep up with the brisk walk.

Reaching the Hold as the last of the brilliant sun could be seen over the tall reaches of the Hold's mountains, they quickly started for the kitchen, stomach grumbling from the delay of dinner. Aden WeyrHold's cook knew the girls well from Adanya's erratic eating habits. Out of /Between/ Eidde and Issil popped and landed on a counter directly in front of Adanya with great expectations.

They sent her pictures of bubbly pies and roasting meat over a woody campfire with flames that licked the food delicately. The pair was hungry and their whirling red eyes intensified their emotion. Adanya was suddenly hungrier also. She grabbed a plate of raw meat set for the spit and eagerly handed it to the two dancing flitters on the counter. Each sized a piece as Solenia and Thesia sat down at a table and signaled a cook.

While the two ordered dinner for themselves, they also requested Adanya's normal plate of tubers, meat and a large platter of sweets. Adanya stood by the counter and handed her flitters bite size pieces of meat until the pair wobbled back and forth and finally fell over with a chorus of cheeps.

Adanya giggled and stepped aside to show Solenia and Thesia the two silly flits. Eidde always gorged himself while Issil was usually more reserved, but something must have made them really hungry during the day. She scooped the sated flitters up and carried them gently to the table where the other two girls were sitting and placed them on the table.

Each looked at the girls with softly whirling eyes and the bronze managed his customary burp. "Geez Eidde! Have mercy!" Adanya declared as the smell of his food reached her nose and her eyes watered. Eidde blinked innocently and tried to sit up, only succeeding in falling backwards. The trio of girls laughed at him and his eyes whirled quicker. Essil glared at them, like he was forgotten and crooned. Adanya leaned towards the flitters as Solenia picked up Essil and stroked his bulging tummy and his wedge-shaped head.

Thesia smiled and stroked Eidde's stomach as the bronze joined his brown friend in crooning loudly. "So, my boys, what did you do today?" Adanya asked of the crooning flitters. The bronze's eyes whirled quicker and his little claws scrabbled at the wooden table in effort to stand.

Blues and tiny bits of red whirled through his eyes as he frantically tried to stand. In Solenia's arms, Issil cheeped and tried to hop out of her arms, battering her in the face with his wings. "Ok already Issil! I'll put you down!" She conceded and set the bulging flitter on the table upright.

The two flitters managed to set themselves up back to back and leaned on each other as flashes went through Adanya's mind. First came a picture of water, which must have been from Eidde because it was mainly clear and lasted a few seconds. Second a glint of gold flashed by and it definitely an imprint of Essil's due to the blurriness. After a few more flashes of what looked like glinting blobs, she realized their point.

As Solenia and Thesia watched in envy, faces almost green, Solenia sighed wishfully. "I wish I had a flitter." Thesia agreed, equally dreamy. "Me too.."

Adanya assured her friends quietly as she watched the flitters carefully. "You'll have flitters soon. My father has contacts and from what these guys are telling me, I should be entitled to half of a gold's clutch in due time." She said carefully and watched the reactions on her friends' faces.

Solenia stuttered and Thesia's jaw hung slack. Adanya observed them smugly. "They flew? Who caught? Who flew?" Solenia managed to ask as Thesia glanced at the flitters in wonder.

Adanya followed her gaze and glanced lovingly at her sleeping flitters, Essil began to wobble and tilt over, but a quick hand saved him that trouble as Adanya propped him back up and he opened a eyelid and crooned at her in thanks. She let the seconds go by purposely to increase the drama and then told them her hastily formed theory.

She pried her dark eyes off the flitters and leaned in on the table. Solenia eagerly sat forward and Thesia soon followed suit. "Well?" They said in unison, waiting impatiently like the little weyrbrats they were.

"Can't tell." She said with a smirk and leaned back. Thesia harrumphed and glared at Adanya. Solenia was puzzled. "What do you mean, can't?"

Stubborn as usual, Adanya repeated herself firmly, a musical lilt to her deep voice, "Just what I said! I can't tell. Both are too stuffed to think right." She paused and eyed a tray of food destined for another table. "Where is our food? They should know not to keep us waiting..." She narrowed her eyes and squinted around the room at shapes moving in the far distance.

Solenia was satisfied; Thesia wasn't, "Too stuffed. Are you sure?" She asked, "I really want to know who flew. Was it a gold? A large gold?" She asked with pleading eyes and Adanya could only laugh.

"Well, I got a quickie of a gold streak across the sky, so it was either a gold or a very light bronze. Eidde isn't that light, is he?" Adanya asked, more of a statement then a question.

Solenia gasped. "A rider... here... LOOK!" She squeezed out, shouting the last word and pointing rudely at a figure walking in. A boy nearby started to snicker and Adanya whirled in her seat and glared at him. He ceased immediately.

Thesia grabbed Solenia's hand. "Don't point! It's rude!" She said and Adanya nodded. Solenia blushed.

While they politely glanced at the rider moving through the crowd in between snips of conversation, each smiled knowingly at each other. A rider, here, could mean only one thing. SEARCH!

As if dreaming, Adanya's deep eyes met those of the light-eyed rider. He gestured towards the sated flitters in the middle of the table and she nodded. Yes, they were hers.

He made his way over casually and confiscated a chair from another table as Solenia almost fainted as he pulled the chair up next to her. His deep voice rang out and Adanya was amazed at what he was saying.

"So, let me guess, this bronze flitter, " He paused and scrambled for a name which Adanya supplied, "Eidde, and this brown one," He looked at Adanya, "Essil," The rider with bluerider shoulder knots looked at the flits as Essil opened an eye lazily, determined no danger and shut it slowly. "Are yours. Right?" He said, more of a statement then a question. The three girls nodded. He looked confused and pointed at Adanya. "I thought these are yours?"

"They are." She replied with a glare at Thesia and Solenia for upstaging her.

"Did they just come back from a flitter flight?" He asked cautiously and surveyed the expressions.

Adanya lifted shaped eyebrows and she smiled slyly. "What's it to you?" She asked kindly, something obliviously in the back of her mind.

"Well, the gold that flew was mine and I was wondering where she was!" He said accusingly, as if the gold had followed the bronze/brown pair back to Adanya.

Narrowing eyebrows, Adanya was suddenly sullen. "Are you sure it was one of my flits that flew her?" She asked quietly.

"Yes. In fact, by Errinoth's idea, it was the little bronze fella." At that, Eidde woke and crooned affectionately as if in agreement. Thesia, who had been silent this whole time, boldly asked. "Doesn’t Adanya get 1/2 of the clutch by sire rights?" The rider looked slightly annoyed.

"Yes, but only if I can find Wapi. Or if she comes back to me." This rider struck Adanya as a worrywart type.

The rider's eyes glazed and Solenia could only sigh dreamily. He opened his eyes with a snap and pointed at Adanya. "You. will. Come. With. Me." Adanya could only willingly oblige.

He rose.
She rose and put the flitters in the crooks of her arms.

He left.
She left and glanced over her shoulder at shocked/astonished Thesia and Solenia. "I'll write. Eidde and Essil know who and where you are."

"Go get your things. We leave for Falas as soon as you are ready. This Hold bores me and I wish my queen back. It's just my luck she decided to fly here..." he muttered and headed off towards the commons, where his blue undoubtedly awaited.
