The door opened and I found myself looking staright at my milk sister, Marsippa, and I sighed. "What do you want now?" I barked at her. Well, I have a reason to be angry, this morning, I just recieved double-chore duty because Cahase decided to go looney in the kitchen. I know I should have picked the other egg. Let the looney sister deal with the looney flitter...
I sighed and looked at her again. Her face was red and she looked close to tears. "What do you want?" I repeated, more gently. She really did look concerned, but that happened alot. She though herself to be strong, but her control of a situation could only last so long. But, that was to be expected. Marsippa was two turns younger than him...
I looked at her expectantly and found tears welling in big eyes. She stammered. "Sssssseddddd...." She leaned against the door way and got up off the bed to give her a seat on a chair. She sat, grateful, and tried again, a solitary tear running down her cheek. "Ssseedo is *sob* missssing. *sob* An' *sob* it's all my *sob*sob* fault! *sob*" She managed to stutter between sobs.
Well, maybe it was better off that I had the crazy flitter and she had the disapearing wherry. This was the SECOND time he'd wandered off. I decided to start at the beginning. "Alright. Breathe. Comon Sita, breathe. Tell me: where were you going with Sedeo?" I asked her gently as she leaned against me and took deep breaths.
She cleared her throat and looked at me nervously. "I was going up to my weyr, to get out of the rain, and I put him down in the Hall by my feet so I could *sob* wring out my sopping hair." She pauses, a pained look on her face that so resembled mine. "Annddd.. when I looked down, he wasn't there!" She said and started to tremble.
I hugged her. "Don't worry lil' sis." I tried to comfort her, my bad mood had totally disappeared with this small crisis on my hands. "He's run away before, while we were here and not home, right?" I asked. She nodded quietly and wiped her eyes.
I took a deep breath and stood. I motioned for her to stand and she rose to ubnsteady feet with a last sob. She cleared her tears and spoke tenderly. "Will you help me find him?" She looked at me with those big past-klah brown eyes and I could see how we were related.
I managed a small laugh and smiled at her gently. I tilted her chin up to look at me. "Of course I will! What do you think, I'm some sort of, of..." I stumbled for words, but I could tell she knew what I meant.
She returned a weak smile and suddenly stood straight and straightened her clothes. I could tell she was picking herself up. I looked at her expectantly. "Well, why don't we hurry? The longer he has, the farther he goes!" I told her reasonably.
"That's true. Why don't you call Cahase? They can find each other. 'Member a sevendays ago when Sedeo disapeared? Cahase was the first to find him." Sipa said hopefully and walked out the door.
Just as she left, I heard a big oomph and the sound of someone falling to the cold stone of the hall floor. In this wing of Aden, that sound was common...
I rushed out the door, wondering what had happened.
