Our Trip to New Zealand
April/May 2001
North Island & South Island
Paihia
Up north in the north island. At the jetty.
Bay of Islands - Hole in the Rock
We were actually on a dolphin watch but the sea was pretty choppy
and we both got quite woozy as a result!  We didn't get to see any dolphins and had to cancel our whale watching plans for the next day or we'd get even sicker!  (We did see lots of dolphins in Kaikourra though! Beautiful!)
Close up of the Hole in the Rock.
Lighthouse on the right, overlooking the Hole in the Rock.
In the middle of the north island.
Waitomo Caves to see the glow worms.
Lady Knox Geyser - An active geyser
(gai-zer, not geezer!)
Rotorua - Whakarewarewa Geothermal Village
Hot! Hot!  Thermal pools.

Whakarewarewa (pronounced fa-ka-ray-wah-ray-wah)
Rotorua - Agrodome
Sheep show!
Lake Taupo - On the way to Palmerston North
Down south of the North island. Hmm..
We took many long drives (well, Adrian was the one driving) but this was going to be our last stop before heading on to Wellington and over to the South Island.
