WHO AM I?

Well, in case you didn’t figure it out at the opening page, my name is Clint. Clint McGuire, specifically. This page is just to give you a little bit of information about myself and why I created this site.

The Bio:

I was born in 1966 to Jerry and Marilyn McGuire in Louisville, GA. I spent most of my early years in Georgia until 1975, when my family and I moved to the mountains of North Carolina. I grew up there and was somewhat happy until my father got a job in Florida in 1982. We moved to Daytona Beach and had a good time for about a year and a half, until my dad got an even better job offer, this time in Augusta Georgia. After drifting from high school to high school (kinda like the Incredible Hulk, only my skin broke out in zits when I got angry), I graduated in Evans Georgia in 1984, without going to a prom or having a girlfriend.

After nearly entering the US Army (out of sheer boredom, I think), I entered the Augusta Technical Institute in the fall of 1984, majoring in accounting. However, I was not all that fond of accounting as a future profession, so I failed miserably and dropped out in ’85. I went from job to job the next year or so, until my dad persuaded me to enter college at the University of SC at Aiken, in January, 1987.

I started off as a history major, but in the fall of ’88, I auditioned for a children’s play and became involved with the theatre program there. Throughout my on-and-off, full-and-part time college career, I have been in numerous UTP productions, both on and offstage. I finally graduated from USCA with a BFA degree in August of 1999. A long, looooooong time coming, but worth it.

I have also made some forays into the professional acting world as well. For three years (1995-97), I worked at the Snow Camp Historical Drama site in Snow Camp, NC. For two years, I played the lead character Simon Dixon in their drama The Sword of Peace. I was also company propmaster, I ran the late night cabaret program, and in my last year I directed the children’s show.

That’s all very interesting, you may ask, but what does it have to do with this page?

Well, in the Fall 1997 semester at USCA, I took a course in photography. I have always liked taking photos, but this course opened my eyes. I became of photography as an art form, and I tried to make something artistic out of the photos I took.

This site is the result of that desire, as well as the desire to share my work with the world at large. True, some of the photos here may not be the most brilliant or original work around, but it’s mine, and I consider myself to be a work-in-progress in this arena. Now that I am a college graduate, I hope to have more time to devote to developing my photographic skills.

Shortly after beginning this site, I added the rant section, basically because I wanted a place to vent my frustrations on life's little annoyances. It's slowly turned into a humor column, complete with guest contributors. I've also contributed to the wrestling columns of (slash)wrestling, and I am now a member of the Net Wits.

What else can I tell you? Let's see... I'm a Leo. I've actually managed to run a 10k race (49 minutes even, thank you very much!). I have a cat named "Sparky". I am a HUGE Pittsburgh Steelers fan. "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" is one of my favorite shows ever (I'm always looking for older tapes of the show!). I am a Star Trek fan, though I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a "trekker". My favorite color is blue. I tend to vote Democratic, though I vote for a candidate of any party, if he/she is sensible enough in my eyes. I HATE Old Navy!

This site is a little bit of a "vanity site", I'll admit. I may never attract millions and millions of hits (unless I put out those pictures of my friend Shane and a Burmese python), and I may not win acres of awards for web design, but this is my baby. I built it, I designed and wrote the code for it, and needless to say I'm proud of it. I just hope you like it, too. Thanks for visiting my little corner of cyberspace.
