Civil War

I hear the dripping,
Effortless,
Through a dotted line
A dismal moonlight
Absorbed, and ensnared
In the trees

Aesthetic reaction
Encrypted so deeply
An infinite wound
Of darkness itself

I am thinning,
Slowly dissolving
As if this body
Only yearns to live
Like everyone else

Feeling this lasting presence
Of the alien that has taken me,
Taken me over too long,
Collapsing my being
And draining my life
Further, farther, away from me

And every time I step away
I am pulled back down
Even deeper, to a depth
Unknown to only me
