KIDS CRICKET LEAGUE
|
Till now there has been little opportunity for kids at international schools to learn about and participate in India’s most popular sport, cricket. A new initiative, the Kids Cricket League, aims to fill the gap, and bring children together to practice and play cricket.
Modelled on the very successful Delhi International Football League, the Kids Cricket League is open to all children (boys and girls) aged 8-12. The League meets every Sunday morning at the British School from 8-10:30 am. We have already had a couple of practice sessions, and will have one more on Sunday October 3rd before starting a series of games between the four different League teams. The children will be divided into four, balanced teams, given team shirts, and will play against each other from October 17th to December 5th (October 10th is a break.) In October we will also start a weekday, after-school practice session.
Like the DIFL, the emphasis of the Kids Cricket League is on fun, having a go and skill development. All children are welcome, regardless of their skill or familiarity level.
Slots are filling up fast, but there are still a few left. Please contact Stephen Howes on 98112-971901 or by email at cmholberton@yahoo.co.uk if you are interested. There is a Rs 750 registration fee. We’d also like to hear from parents interested in volunteering as coaches and managers.
