MAY 2003

Date:

The meeting was chaired by Sunita Kunzru and Junko Ogawa, joint HS Chairs.

1. Alterations to the PSA Charter:
    These were discussed and approved.

2. School Coffees:

ES- None held.
MS- Inappropriate behaviour between students was discussed. A support group for parents to discuss concerns is being set up. Please contact Rebekah Cessna if interested in joining.
HS- As Red and White day was so successful in promoting team spirit, further such events are planned for September and January.

Mike Bollom (in charge of HS Mini courses) would like to make a 15min. presentation to parents in the PSA Sept. meeting.

3. WELCOME COFFEE:
This is going to be held on 11th August at 8.30am in the boardroom to welcome new parents. Bob Dow will organize and PSA Chairs to request Principles of each school to be allowed to make a short presentation.

Bob will provide Rebekah with a monthly list of parents who arrive after the start of the year so that relevant Welcome Co-ordinators can ring them, show them around the school, answer any questions, etc. High school and Middle school welcome co-ordinators: Rebekah and Karin Almquist, Elementary: Michelle Starbuck.

4. Board Report:
Spring Meeting was held April 23 and 3 new Board Members were elected out of the 8 candidates.

Very few parents attended and a request was made for more to attend these twice yearly meetings.

The school is in a healthy financial situation and contingencies have been made to allow the school to continue to operate effectively if the registration falls into low numbers due to world events. One of these is the ‘virtual school’ where pupils have a certain number of days tuition on-line. The students have been taught how to operate this.

School security measures have been improved with higher boundary walls, surveillance cameras, allowing buses to pick up children inside the gates etc,.

5. Treasurer’s Report:
We end the year with a Rs 2.15L surplus (with just a few small payments yet to be made).

It has been agreed to donate about Rs75,000 between the 3 schools for use on a project basis. This money should go to charities in which the students are directly involved in helping and approval must be given by the PSA before agreement to donate.

6. Curriculum Committee Report:
Meeting was cancelled this month, so nothing to report. Will report back at the next meeting.

7. PSA positions:
These have been agreed for 2003/4 year and can been seen posted on noticeboards and on the web-site. If you have anything that you want to contribute to PSA Newsletter please forward it to the PSA Chair for your school.

Volunteers are always welcome - even if you can just lend a hand for one event. Any views or concerns can also be discussed at our monthly meetings- held 3rd Thursday of every month.

Next meeting: THURSDAY 21st AUGUST 8.30am in the Boardroom (next to main school reception). Please come along - all parents welcome!
