PSA MONTHLY MEETING
November, 2002

Date:
November 21, 2002

The meeting of the PSA was called to order at 8:40 a.m. by ES Co-Chair, Charlotte Ellerhoj. Minutes from the last meeting were approved.

SECURITY
  • Bob Hetzel outlined the recent measures taken and the further measures planned to improve the security of the school. He praised the excellent job that both the Indian security forces and US security were doing to maximize security as a whole in India. At school level the primary concern is to eliminate targets- the main problem being congestion outside the school at drop off and pick up times. Measures are being taken to improve this but he urged all parents to ensure their drivers followed the instructions given to them by the security/ traffic staff in order to minimize the problem. Bob will be sending an e-mail shortly advising on the measures.

SCHOOL E-MAILS
  • Several parents complained about the volume and delivery of e-mails from the school. Bob agreed to look at this, with the view to limiting the size and just headlining the less crucial messages, so that only those interested can spend time downloading the full version from the website. Hard copies of notices will also be posted on school noticeboards.

SCHOOL COFFEES
  • Elementary
    • Elementary was cancelled. Next one will take place in January. If you have any issues you would like to raise or ideas you want to suggest for next coffee please talk to Mike Foxall. An idea some parents wanted to discuss was reducing blocked periods for Gr5 and providing an afternoon recess.

  • Middle
    • Middle school reported on a successful coffee evening discussing the curriculum. Jan Patten is willing to talk to anyone anytime if they have concerns relating to this, although the first point of call should always be your child’s teacher.

  • High
    • High School had a good coffee morning about teacher-student communication.

EVENTS
  • Under the Stars night was a great success. We sold 285 tickets and made a total of about 120,000Rs. The money from the raffle (26,000Rs) will go to a charity (yet to be nominated).

  • The AWA MELA takes place this Sunday 10am start. All help welcomed. All proceeds to charity.

  • The High school Madrigal Dinner takes place on Dec.7th- a medieval musical night at 700Rs a head.

  • Christmas Carolling scheduled for Dec.18th - we need a chair- volunteers please.

  • International Food Fair- next meeting Jan.14th. Please support your country.

BOARD MEETING
  • The Fall Board Meeting takes place on 26th Nov. at 6.30pm. The school needs at least 50 people to attend.

The Board is looking for 3 members for a nominating committee to canvas people to join the Board. One must be a US citizen.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 9.30am.
