AFGE, which is an AFL-CIO affiliate, has been a union since 1932. American Federation of Government Employees AFGE Local 1882 has offices located in west central Wisconsin and represents employees throughout the upper midwest. A merger between Local 1358 and Local 1882 was recognized by AFGE on 1 December 1981 and certification by the Federal Labor Relations Authority was issued on 4 March 1982. Other mergers impacting on Local 1882, Local 1426 Fort Sheridan, Local 2106 83rd ARCOM employees in Ohio, and Local 3330 88th ARCOM employees in Minnesota. Prior to becoming AFGE, Local 1882 recognition was granted to NFFE as Local 50.
