| ** Nash pulls over the 'Cuda to the side of the street, and Rachel gets in with a stack of papers. He watches her as she gets in, flashing back to Caitlin momentarily. Nash carefully eyes the work and says "so, what did you dig up on the Rodriguez case?" "Well, we know where he was when the murder was committed, the alibi checks out... so..." she stops, knowing that Nash has something to say about her work. "So that leaves us nowhere?" he glances towards Rachel and questions "what next?" "I didn't say that, I said it checks out - its Ramon that we should be looking into," reassures Rachel. "Is that just a hunch?" Nash laughs as he glances at her again, wondering how long she has been that appealing to him. "Have I been wrong before?" remarks Rachel, half seriously as she catches Nash peering at her over his glasses. They are both silent, as Nash drives towards the SIU. He can't help but glance back at her from time to time, hoping she doesn't notice. ** Antwon and Cassidy are at the Rodriguez house where the murder was committed, dusting for clues and questioning the maid. Antwon peers around the room suspiciously and questions "So, Juan wasn't here when the gun shot went off?" Maria, the maid thinks for a minute then responds "Oh no. No, he was out - his father and I were here alone, until..." Antwon ponders a moment and says "Where was he?" Maria gives him a glance as she walks across the room. "I don't know, he comes and goes as he pleases these days... Sir, I really have to get back to my work..." Antwon concedes "Okay... we'll be in touch..." He walks over to Cassidy and hands her his note pad. Cassidy observes the notes and comments "convenient memory, huh?" Antwon laughs "a little too convenient." She closes up his note pad and they walk towards the door. ** Nash is situating himself at his desk at the SIU when Cassidy approaches him with Antwon. "Look what we've got, Dad." "What?" "Well, apparently the maid seems to know a lot." "Did you bring her in?" "Well, no. She was kind of..." Nash cuts Antwon off. "Go back and get her, come back when you know something definite." Antwon and Cassidy walk off and Nash sits at his desk, drawing out options on the paper in front of him. ** "Enough of this." Rachel logs off her computer in frustration and gets up, walking towards Harvey's end of the floor. She isn't quite sure of how she feels for Harvey, but she does know he is great company. Rachel fears she is at a point in her life where she doesn't really have a time for romance, and the men in her life are just that --- great company, nothing more. She certainly doesn't want to lose the friend she has in Harvey, but can't help wanting to spend more time with him --- not sure where that could ever go, doubting he felt the same way. All feelings aside, she is hungry and walks in his direction. McCabe walks over to Harvey's desk, and sits on the corner waiting for him to notice her presence, fully intent on distracting him. He looks up from the computer screen and notices her. "Hey, don't you have work to do?" He gets up and walks around to where she is seated on the desk, he looks at the file in her hands. "Well, I do --- but, I was thinking that lunch would be good right about now." "Hunger is stopping the workaholic herself? I'm shocked," he laughs. "Food wins out over work anytime, care to join me?" "I would love to, but I've got to find this info for Nash. I've been tied to this box all morning." Harvey really regrets turning her down,but he can't leave Nash hanging on such a huge case. "Poor baby." She runs her hand in his curly hair and smiles "I'll see you later." "You bet, I'll still be here." He smiles back at her as she walks away. Antwon approaches him, catching him watching Rachel."You. You crack me up. Whatta you got?" ** Back at the Rodriguez house, "Maria" is opening up a closet. He looks inside at an older woman tied and gagged. "Callate Maria... you scream, you die. Just like papa had to die. Me oyes?" He stares at the woman, intently. "Check me out, mama, pretty good --- huh? Its yours" Ramon pulls off the wig and the second skin mask, proving his disguise. "Those cops will never know..." ** Antwon walks over to Harvey's desk at sits at the corner of it. "Hey, Harvey..." Harvey, distracted by something else, remains unphased with his head in his hands. Antwon looks around to see what Harvey is so intently staring at. He looks up and sees, McCabe is standing over by the file cabinets with her back towards them. Unable to resist the temptation of announcing that he caught Harvey checking out Rachel... again. "Harvey... Harvey Leek?" Antwon begins laughing before he even gets it all out. Startled, Harvey picks up his head "What?" "Harvey Leek, I am ashamed of you." "What, what did I do?" "Oh, acting all innocent aren't you?" "Huh?" "Checking out McCabe again." Antwon chuckles to himself. He had always thought Rachel was attractive, but never had really "checked her out." He decides to try. McCabe momentarily turns around to accept a file from someone else, and Antwon sees the return of the seductive lollipop in hand with *that* smile. "Oh." "Uh huh." Harvey grins, as the both continue to oogle from across the room. "Looks like Nash has his eye on it too." Antwon laughs as they see Nash walking towards Rachel. "You boys ready to go?" Joe asks. Antwon and Harvey didn't even realize he had come up to the desk. "Hello?????????" "Uh yeah, sure." Antwon tries to regain his composure and gets off the desk. "Yeah, Joe. Be there in a minute" Joe walks off ahead of them. "Ask her out." "Like that would happen, the master already is in for the kill." Harvey chuckles and throws his arm around 'Twon and they lag behind Joe. ** Nash saunters over to the filing cabinet where Rachel is arranging the case load, and slightly leans against it. "So... are you up for a couple of beers tonight?" he, too, is distracted by the lollipop. "Actually, I was hoping to finish these up soon so I could get home early." "Oh, okay then. I just wanted to check." "Thanks for the offer" Rachel looks up at Nash, and can tell that he is a little disappointed at her rejection.He straightens up to walk away but hesitates for a moment. Before walking away, Nash stops to think. "Another date this evening?" "Not hardly. Its been a long week, I am hoping on getting some quality time with my couch and finally call my mother back." "Give her my regards. Raincheck?" "Anytime." She looks up to see Nash brilliantly smiling at her. She puts the last file in, shuts the cabinet and begins to walk away. "Rache?" "Yes?" "Don't forget - I need that info on the Marks case on Wednesday, take the time off and get some sleep. We'll be full steam ahead and pulling late hours." "Is that an order?" "You bet. Get home and get to bed." Nash smiles as she walks away and he walks back towards the stairs. ** |
