Time Will Tell
Episode 5

"You know, you don't have to get here so early. I don't think they'd be suspicious if we walked in, together, perhaps." Nash smiles at Rachel as he walks with her through the SIU.
"They don't need any more ammunition." Rachel pauses a moment, "here, this came in on Van Guard's associates in Berlin." Nash notes her speed in changing the subject.

"We don't always have to talk about business, Rachel. Nash has his arm loosely around her shoulders by this point, it 'slips' down around her waist.

"Don't we?" Rachel knows what he is talking about, but she decides that flaunting a relationship with the boss might not be the best idea. "It's not comfortable around here."

"This is not comfortable?" asks Nash, intending to prompt a response. They head upstairs towards Nash's 'office.' She pulls away from Nash's outstretched arm.

"You know what I mean," stammers Rachel.

"Do I?" Nash sits down at his desk and waits for reply. Rahcel is leaning on his desk, waiting for him to modify his question with another. He begins to lean in to kiss her to break the tension, since they were alone upstairs.

"RACHEL!" yells Cassidy, from downstairs. "That fax is in. Come down here."

Nash pulls back and Rachel stands up, yelling down "I'll be right there."

She turns away from the desk to head downstairs, nearly reaching the stairs before Nash adds, "we'll talk later."

Harvey is riffling through various papers on Antwon's desk while Antwon is searching for information online.

"This is some great stuff that Rachel got on the associated in Berlin, find anything new on the brother's operation?"

"Nah, not yet. Bunch of dead ends."

Nash comes down and walks over to Antwon's desk, "Antwon, you want to go check out Van Guard's brother's operation on the border?"

"Inside information?" Antwon can guess what Nash is proposing, but he wants to be sure.

"I got a hunch that will give us the lead for Van Guard and busting his 'sweat shop' operation."

"Alright - me and Harve?" Antwon smiles at Harvey, "roadtrip!"

"Not quite. I'm sending Joe and Cassidy down with you and Harvet and Rachel will be here with me working on our end." Nash stops a moment, "is that okay with you?"

"That's..." with hestitation "cool." Antwon tries not to show his disappointment.

"You will leave first thing tomarrow morning. Cassidy's making the arrangements now. Harvey, I want you to go find Rachel and have her update you about Smith and then the two of you can check out the records I pulled." Nash puts his hands in his pockets and walks away, as Harvey and Antwon look on, disgruntled.

Later that evening, Nash and Rachel are in the kitchen at his apartment. They are both doubting much, if any, success for their current relationship beyond sex. Rachel is standing close to the window, looking out with a glass of wine in her hand and Nash is working on dinner over at the counter. Desiring to break the silence, Rachel begins, "so, what do you want to do about the SIU?"

"What do you mean?" Nash asks, unassured of which aspect of the SIU she is questionning.

"I mean, are we together in and out of the SIU, or just out?" she pauses waiting for Nash's answer.

"Well, I thought we were together no matter where we are?"

"Nash, we sleep together and we work together --- that's it. I am just trying to figure out the perimeters of our relationship." Watching Nash's facial expression change, she adds, "if anything goes beyond the bedroom or not."

Nash stops stirring the pasta sauce and walks towards Rachel, remaining silent until he is directly infront of her. "Do you want it to?" Nash waits for a reply, but Rachel remains silent. Nash moves in closer to kiss her, still waiting for an answer. He kisses her.

Rachel finally pulls away after a few seconds, giving a weak and winded "Yes."

Forgetting completely about dinner, Nash has his mind focused on other things. He continues to kiss Rachel, but he can tell she is distracted. He breaks the kiss and questions, "what is it?"

"What about Cassidy?" She pulls away from him and straightens her clothing out, "don't tell me you haven't thought of that."

Nash walks back over to Rachel and puts his arms around her, "she's a big girl. She can handle it."

Rachel smiles at him, "can you?"

"I think I can try. Let's find out, shall we?" Nash smiles, and proceeds with kissing her. Rachel has difficulty setting her glass down on the counter as Nash leads her to bedroom.

"Rache, did you get the copy of the information Smith gave us about the border shop?"

"No, I didn't get a chance to pick up that fax yet. I'll go check and see if its in." Rachel gets up from the conference table, leaving Harvey surrounded by a stack of papers on either side. Harvey hates when Nash calls them in early for this type of work, but doesn't mind it as much since he is there with Rachel. She runs downstairs to get the fax, quickly reading it. "Harve, come here..."

Harvey runs down the stairs, "what?"

"Look, it checks out. If Antwon can get us proof of what is going on down on the border, we can use it. The shops are identical in everything but location."

"I see, I'll call Antwon and Nash and update them, unless you were going to call Nash?"

"Harvey..." Rachel smiles at him, "I'm sure he'd love to hear from you."

"Yeah, sure." Harvey walkes off towards his own desk and picks up the phone to call. He calls and then comes back to Rachel.

"Harvey, are you seeing anyone?"

"WHAT?" Surprised by her question, Harvey is forced to wonder why she might be asking?

"I was just thinking, I have a friend that you'd be great for - if you weren't seeing anyone."

"Oh no, no blind dates. The name is Inspector McCabe, not Yenta." He laughs, wondering what else she has in mind.

"Oh, come on .One date - I wouldn't even suggest it if I didn't think it would work," she pleads.

"Okay, one date - that's it. What's her name again?" He figures, if she's a friend of Rachel's, she can't be half bad.

"Renee. I'll call her." Rachel smirks with success.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah... making light of my misery." Harvey gets up and walks away from her desk smiling, thinking that if he's lucky - maybe Renee won't be half bad. He just hopes Rachel doesn't set up any double dates anytime soon.

Later that day, the SIU has nearly emptied for the evening. Nash and Rachel are going over the day's papers upstairs and Harvey is packing up his things to go downstairs, wondering about his impending blind date for the next evening --- courtesy of Rachel. At the last minute, he thinks of something he wanted to ask Rachel about and he goes to find her.

Nash and Rachel are going over the paperwork, but becoming easily distracted after Nash kisses her.

"Nash, I have to ask you something. Can this last?"

"What?"

"This relationship. I mean, it works for now - we're together all the time, at work and after. But - even if we keep things out of the SIU, can this last?" Rachel pulls away a moment.

Nash thinks about it, "I don't know. I know that we can try. Only time will tell." Nash smiles, and says, "What do you say to us getting out of here?" Nash kisses her again.

"Its a good idea, but...I should get some more of this work done and get the report to Harvey." She pulls away and heads back towards the conference table.

"Will you be by later on?" Nash asks as he gets ready to leave.

"Maybe," says Rachel with a mischevious smile.

As she goes back to the table to sit down, Harvey moves from the corner of the stairway and heads to the door himself. "I guess Antwon was right after all."
