Field Umpires The field umpires control the game and award free kicks or penalties. They have the power to over-rule a decision made by a boundary or goal umpire. Boundary Umpires As the name suggests, these umpires patrol the boundary lines. They decide if the ball is "out" or if it is "out on the full". Goal Umpires The role of the Goal umpire is to decide whether any kick for goal; |
goes between the 2 goal posts (a goal) goes between a goal post and a point post (a point) has been touched by another player on the way through (a point) is out on the full (no score) |

Emergency Umpire The emergency umpire is not actively involved in the game. Their only role during the game is to be a substitute for any other injured umpire or to escort a player off for the "blood rule" so that there is no time-wasting. |
