EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING
Home
A full list of equipment and clothing will be provided nearer the time, but some items that you may wish to include in your letter to Santa are detailed below:

3 Season Sleeping Bag.
This is essential.
Keswick Mountain Sports are still selling the sleeping bag that a lot of pupils bought for the last Africa Trip, and it is also the one that I myself use.  They are on offer - £39.95 reduced to
£19.95

PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE ARRANGED DISCOUNT PRICES WITH AN OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT RETAIL OUTLET REGARDING THE ITEMS LISTED BELOW, (THE PRICES IN BRACKETS ARE THOSE QUOTED BY LOCAL OUTLETS).

Quick-drying, Lightweight Towel.
This is optional, but the alternative is to take a bulky towel that dries out slowly and is very heavy.
A recommended one is the "Lifeventure Micro Fibre Trek Towel" - large size.
Price £13.14 (£15.99)

Self-inflating sleeping mattress.
This is optional.  You will be provided with a karrimat to sleep on by the school, but these are only good for insulation, they do not soften the contours of whatever ground you are sleeping on.  The self-inflating sleeping mattresses are heavier, but everybody who uses one is adamant that they get a better night's sleep.  However, people who only use karrimats say that they are very good for sleeping on as well.  The downside with the self-inflating mattresses, apart from them being heavy, is that they can puncture, and you will need to be careful with them in this respect.
A recommende one is the 'Therm-a-rest' Trail, regular size.
Price £33.91 (£54.99)

Halogen Head Torch.
A torch of some sort is essential, but a head torch leaves your hands free for cooking in the dark and arranging the inside of your tent.
Petzl Zoom Halogen, (basic head torch).
Price
£18.56 (£19.99)
Petzl Myo 3, (more elaborate head torch).
Price £33.25 (£39.99)

Water Bottles.
1.5 litre Sigg Bottle.
Price £9.98
(£13.00)

If you would like me to buy any of these items for you, please send the money, (cash), into me with details of exactly what you want.
