CHAPTER NINE
The Arrow
landed in the clearing…
The hatch opened at
the back and Agatha Burnel walked out, squinting in the sunlight of the
mid-afternoon Taranian sun. She engaged the cloak of
the Arrow and began walking.
"Hey, Gathy…"
Agatha turned,
startled by the unexpected voice.
Sylvia was standing
there…
"Sylvia?"
She said. "Uh…What's up?"
Sylvia smiled:
"I got Tmish—or Smith—His body is on its way
back to Earth…" "Body?!
You did it by yourself?" Agatha smiled. "Hell…You should have waited
for me."
"Waited for
you…" Sylvia repeated. "Wait for you to do what, exactly?"
Agatha hesitated.
"Why did you
run away, Agatha?" Sylvia stepped closer to her sister. "Why did you
lie to me? You've never been a member of Starfleet Intelligence's confidential
ops…You never came here to get Smith back…"
Agatha didn't say
anything.
"Why did you
bring me here?" Sylvia demanded.
"I can't tell
you." Agatha smiled. "It's a secret…"
"Goddamn
your secret!" Sylvia said. "Smith was only a secondary reason…You
came here because of the Daqium didn't you?! The unique power source that one can only find
on Taran…You're the one who stole the samples of it
and the one who destroyed the mine where it was exploited…Your whole reason for
coming here was to get that substance for whatever purpose!!"
Agatha sighed.
"And
what about me? Why did you bring me? To distract the authorities while
you played your tricks in the mine? What the hell is wrong with you?!"
Agatha stepped
back: "You'll find out one day, Sylvia…Today isn't the day you're supposed
to find out about everything…Maybe in the future…"
Agatha tapped her
commbadge and began dematerializing.
"Agatha! Come
back here!" Sylvia said.
Agatha smiled at
her sister just before disappearing…
The Arrow decloaked and began rising into the sky.
"You'll
find out, Lilly." Agatha's voice said
through Sylvia's commbadge. "Sooner or later…"
The Arrow left…
Sylvia closed her
eyes: "Damn you…" She muttered.

EPILOGUE
Transporter Chief
Robinson activated the transporter and a column of light appeared on the
transporter pad and slowly became Sylvia Burnel. Yasmin Reeves and John
Stevenson were there to greet her.
"Hey,
Sylvia!" Stevenson smiled warmly. "So…How was your time on
Hell's Gate?"
Sylvia opened her
mouth, closed it, and then said: "It's a long story…I'll tell you about it
later."
Reeves frowned:
"You look a little tired."
Sylvia smiled
wanly: "Yes…I am pretty tired."
"Looks like
you had a lot of fun." Stevenson grinned.
Sylvia sighed:
"
