Started pitching horseshoe competition in 1937 three years later he won the N.H.P.A. State Championship. In 1961 and 1962 Bill won the A.H.P.A. State Championships. He also won the A.A.U. National Championship in 1973. Bill promoted horseshoes and Through out the state. He helped build courts in Dugger, Jasonville. Besides pitching in local leagues he pitched in a Travel League. After retiring Bill could be seen at the Dugger courts daily where he practiced and pitched with anyone who would stop by encouraging them to take up the sport of horseshoes. Bill always had time to show a friend or competitor something to better their game. He was well liked and a asset to the game of horseshoes.
