October 29,
State Meeting of the AHPA 10-29-00
The meeting was called to order by President, June Baldwin.
The last minutes were read and approved.
The treasurer's report was given and approved.

Officer's reports:
President's report: June said we have got to find more ways to get people to participate
in tournaments and leagues. We need to know why they are not. Does anyone have any ideas
or suggestions? We could mail out letters or email letters. More email addresses are
needed. Email would be much more cost efficient than regular mail. Please give your
email address on the roster when passed around.

Constitution committee: There is a brand new constitution for the USA. Papers were
handed out to everyone that listed the new changes. The changes will be discussed after
the lunch break. George Sargent posted the tournament results on his web site. George
also noted that we have got to get more juniors involved if we were going to keep alive.

Discussion was also made as to why so few attended the state meetings. Carol Donaldson
suggested a later start time for those who wished to attend church.

June mentioned that we need more scorekeepers for tournaments, especially the State.
Ron Holliday mentioned that the AHPA of California did not have scorekeepers or scoreboards.
They carried a clipboard with them. The players then took turns at writing the scores down.
The clipboards were carried from end to end. This might be a solution. Ed Burgett suggested
"sit down" scoreboards. It was too hard on some people to stand that long, especially if
they were going to pitch in the next round.

Dorothy Pittman suggested prizes for the scorekeepers at the state the way we did at the
T.O.C. It was suggested that we give tickets at each tournament for each scorekeeper, with
prizes to be drawn at the Fall Meeting. This might also get people to attend the Fall
Rally Day meeting.

Mary Oliver told of how her kids there were going to the adult league nights to keep score.
This helped them understand the game and get tips on pitching for their league nights.

Bev Holliday suggested we get into the schools to teach the game. It was stated we need to
remember the different pitching distances for the youth.

OLD BUSINESS: There was none.

Lunch Break

The afternoon session was called to order. Ron started with the Constitution changes. Ron
told of his California trip. He gave also gave California a copy of our constitution to look
over for suggestions. These suggestions were then taken back to the constitution committee.
Ron explained that California does not have any leagues, and no scoreboards, as mentioned
earlier. They have no lights at their courts. Ron also mentioned that someone from
the state of Georgia had expressed interest in joining our organization. He would
send them some information.

The constitution committee had held 2 meetings. One meeting had lasted 5½ hours and the
second one had lasted 3½ hours. A lot was accomplished. He mentioned that the AHPA of
America changes would not effect the AHPA of Indiana. The motion was approved to accept the
AHPA of America Constitution by a vote of 34 for.

The Rules committee had likewise put in lots of hours. Ron went through the rules. Some of
the rules effect the country, some just affect the Indiana leagues. Most of the rules
were accepted. Rule 7.8 was not. Lots of discussion was given. The final vote was 14 for
acceptance, 17 against. The change was not carried.

Rule 7.9 was one that changed the classes from Men and Women being separated. They are
now to be included together. The actual pitchers will stay separated. The handicap
divisions will be combined. There was one correction. The Class B in the women is to include
80 point average pitchers. The classes are now done by letter, rather than division numbers.
The top women in each division is still eligible for the T.O.C. even if she is beat by a man.
The motion carried with a 24 to 8 vote.

Rule 7.10 was voted down due to a conflict with the constitution.

All other rule changes were accepted.

Next years rule committee chairman is to be Tom Shrader. George Sargent is to be the
chairman of the Constitution committee.

Ron made the motion that we have the Spring meeting on March 25th, 2001 or April 1st,
2001, depending on the availability of the 4-H building.

Rally day was set to be October 28th, 2001. It was set for the same time as this year,
with a motion by Ron Holliday and seconded by Jerry Likens followed by a vote.

The tournament schedule was gone over, and set for next year.

A nomination for President was made. Ron Holliday was voted in as the new president.
Ron also said that he wanted a meeting in January or early February of all of the
club presidents.

Nominations for Vice President were given. Jack Riedman, Russ Favors, Tom Shrader and
June Baldwin were nominated. Jack Riedman was voted as first Vice President.

Nominations for Second Vice Presidents were given: Keith Tow, Tom Shrader and Russ Favors.
Russ Favors was voted as second Vice President.

Public Relations nominations were given: Linda McFarland and June Baldwin were nominated.
Linda McFarland was voted as public relations.

Audit Committee was set with June Baldwin, Tom Shrader and Randy Reddick. Alonzo made the
motion to raise Ramona's salary. Russ Favors seconded this. The motion was then stricken.
This is something that has to be done by the Board of Directors.

Jack Reidman ask how the board members were chosen. Ron explained that the president
currently did this. The constitution changed that. The board will get together to decide
when to add new board members from the other states. They would also decide how the areas
would be divided. The members in that particular area would then vote the new members on.

Awards were handed out. Mr. and Mrs. Horseshoe went to Carl McFarland and Linda McFarland.
Hall of Fame inductees were announced. They were Jim Pierson, Frank Baldwin, Nancy and
Tyler Sage.

Randy Reddick was presented with a new award this year. Sandbagger of the Year.

Ron wants to meet with the new officers after this meeting.

The motion to adjourn was made by Ron Holliday and seconded by Tom Shrader.
Meeting was adjourned.

October 13,
The Constitution and the Rules Committees are ready to present their proposals to the
membership. Many hours were spent by members from around the AHPA during these meeting.
They also considered the prosposals sent in from California. The prosposals were written
with the expansion of the AHPA of America first in mind.
The State of Indiana constitution has not been updated yet. That will be needed after
the membership passes the one for the USA. The committees understand adjustments will
needed as early as next year. I would like to remind everyone to be at Rally Day, Sunday,
October 29th. It will be held in the Morgan County 4-H building in Martinsville, Indiana.
The meeting will start at 11 am. A pitch in dinner will be held as in the past. This will
probably be a lengthly meeting, but its your organization so please attend.
