The Giza plateau is perhaps that most famous cemetery in the world. It is well known for its three large pyramids, which were the tombs of the Old Kingdom pharohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. In addition to the pharohs' pyramids, there are several smaller pyramids which served as tombs for queens and daughter and fields of the mastabas which were flat roofed tombs of nobles.
