Finger Myrtle Hill Cemetery
Rome, Georgia

This cemetery towers above Rome like a morbid multi-tiered cake at athe confluence of the Etowah and Oostanaula Rivers. It was established 1857 as the city's second cemetery. It occupies one of the seven hills from which the city draws it's name. The cemetery is home to Ellen Axson Wilson, first wife of President Woodrow Wilson, Dr. Battey, the first surgeon to perform an ooprectomy, America's "Known Soldier" and almost 400 civil war soldiers.
