Dedicated to his fight against 'Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia'
You are Visitor
Hi! My name is Aaron Chase Gibson and I am 7 years old. I live
in Laguna Hills, California with my Mom, Dad and sister Jaimie. I
was born in Springfield Oregon on September 11, 1997. On Nov. 16,
2001,  I was diagnosed with ALL,  Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
My Mom and Dad have built this website for me as a way for the
people that know me and love me to stay in touch with us and watch
my progress.  I hope that you will enjoy reading and learning about
my illness, as much as my parents love working on this project. The
information you will find on this website is about my treatments and
how I spend the next months and years fighting to stay well and to
beat this disease!!
This is the story of our son, Aaron Chase Gibson, and his battle with a very real disease.
Aaron has ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Before November 2001, Aaron was a very
healthy child. He wasn't one of those children that seemed to always be going to the doctors
to be checked for this or that, in fact I don't recall Aaron ever having an ear infection or
even a cold. We have had to make a few trips to the ER for the more serious things like
when he got his big toenail ripped off by the door to the local hamburger joint, or the time
he fell off his bike and hit a rought iron railing and knocked out three of his front teeth.
As you may have guessed Aaron is a pretty tough kid, not to mention big for his age. He
weighed 9 lbs. 3.5 oz and was 21.5 inches long when he was born and hasn't slowed down a
bit!
When I stop to think what the first signs of this disease might have been, I remember he
would occasionally complain that his legs hurt. I attributed this to growing pains as he is a
bit big for his age. Then there was a time he didn't seem to be feeling well and thought he
may have caught a cold or a virus. In October we took him on an outing with some friends
to a local amusement park  and he didn't seem very interested. He rode one ride the whole
day and was quite irritable. Again we thought he wasn't feeling well and maybe fighting off
something. Then his sister mentioned one day that she thought he looked a little pale and
had dark circles under his eyes. I justified this as maybe a lack of outdoor activities. Looking
back, I feel these things would have been a sign that he needed to see a doctor. What finally
got our attention was on November 15th when I had come home from work early to catch a
little nap. My husband and Aaron had decided to take a little walk to the elementary school
across the street to play. When they returned my husband seemed very concerned that Aaron
didn't want to play and just wanted to come home. He was very pale and out of breath and we
knew at that moment he needed to see a doctor. What we thought was going to be fairly minor
turned out to be more than we could ever have imagined. That was the beginning of what now
seems so long ago.
On November 16th, Aaron went to visit his doctor and after an examination and a few tests
it was determined he was in a critical state and would need to be admitted for further testing.
That evening  we met with Dr. Wong,  the head of  Oncology/Hemotology. He informed us
that Aaron's Hemoglobin count was very low and would need to run even more tests before he
could give us a diagnosis  and that the next several days would seem like years.  If we wanted
to know what was wrong with our son, than that was  what we needed to do. It never occured to
us that our son could have a life threatening illness and what we were about to find out would
change our lives forever.
As we move down what is going to be a very long road we want to share with you how
Aaron is doing and keep you up to date on his progress as he fights this disease. We know
the power of prayer is an awesome thing and ask that you pray with us for his swift recovery.

Please take some time and look around Aaron's site via the Links below. We will
provide ongoing updates on his progress on the'Journal' page. Also, check
out a report that Aaron's sister Jaimie did on Leukemia. And, don't
forget to sign Aaron's Guestbook before leaving. G&D&J&A
