If they are very frequent go see a doctor, but,
I am taking it on assumption that he already has.

Does the pain stem from his neck
to the back of his head?
If so, this is probably muscle problems, and you
can go into a pet store and buy something
you put on a horses feet to relieve the pain. . .
very minty.
It is safe for humans.

Bag Balm or Pulvex usually purchased in a tin.
