Frankly, aThENa has so much news, I decided that she deserves her own page! *grin*
Here's what she says:
Life, as they say, has gone on for me. I went through a horrible period from the time I returned to Michigan from Floriday in June of '98, drinking too much every day, smoking like a fiend, every night, sinking farther and farther into debt, and settling into a life of hopelessness and depression... and gaining so much weight I wouldn't go anywhere execpt to drink... Things were HORRIBLE!!!
But then I got into some major trouble, and it was the biggest wake up call of my life... I quit my job at TGI Friday's as a waitress when I somehow lucked out beyond any part of my wildest dreams and landed a job in a very high position at America Trans Air (you know, that HUGE airline?).
Basically, I work for the travel branch (ATA Leisure Corp) as Inside Sales Admin. Support, and have since February 14, 2000. I was hired in two steps below management, but was promoted when I kicked ass for them.
What I do from day to day consists of contracting, helping, and setting up millions of! travel agencies all over the states, and a handful of other agencies in other countries. I am also responsible for contacting hotels everywhere to set up my agents with discounted trips, there's a lot more I could go on about, but you get the idea. :)
I will be in charge of leading FAM trips to Mexico and surrounding areas to show travel agents our hotels and properties to get them better aquainted with our product, eventually, but for now, I am content to have free air to any place we fly, and on a couple other airlines contracted with us.
Because I've been working my tail off, I will be taking a much needed vacation on the 29th of August to- IRELAND!!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED to go, and my plans for this trip are to spend 11 days backpacking all over this beautiful country, then meet a HOT Irish man and have him dote on me the rest of my life.
JUST kidding...
I just discovered myself all over again and have NO intentions of settling down or getting married for at least five years or so. I do date though, but not the boys I use to... now I will take either the bad boys with the motorcycles, or the rich Dean Witter men that love to take me out. :)
I am loving the dating world now since I've lost over 50 pounds by becoming a complete health nut (thank you Dr. Atkins, Bally's, and the inventors of the bikes and rollerblades) and pratice yoga and Ti-Kwan Do... watch out boys, I can take the majority of you down!!!
I don't wear much make up, got a tan and grew my blondish hair down my back. I'm much more confident about myself, but I think I'm becoming a bit of a snob... HELP!!! hee hee hee Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it, right?
I've shied away from the drinkers and my old hang out buddies, and spend a great deal of time in the professional atmosphere... Many more business oportunities there. :)
Don't think I've become some stuck-up bitch with a tree up my ass or anything...
I can guarantee I'm still the friendly, "let's talk..." Jenn with a grown up perspective on life. However, if you're looking for me on a Saturday night, try Tiki Bob's in Pontiac... I'm the one out there in the skimpy tank top, black vinyl pants, cutting a rug on the dance floor and batting my eyes. :)
My sister and I just threw an offer on a beautiful house in Madison Heights, and have our fingers crossed. We're done renting, and have the mortgage approval to prove it.
My favorite things in life right now are my two babies (two orange tabbies named Shoney and Maddie, Irish OF COURSE!!!), candles, and seeing people who haven't seen me in ages and have no idea who the hell I am... My high is the rush I get from a good workout, or just knowing how far I've come in life (bills, drinking, smoking), and how many more things I have coming to me...
So, anyone wondering where I am? I'm the one you can hear laughing up in Michigan...
Life, as they say, is wonderful... and the idea of a blow-out bash for all us former SoHo-ers that Mystery Lady (Lynnie) had, is a fantastic idea... I'm in... :)
That's me... and I miss you, and SoHo!!! I lost interest in all chat rooms since they destroyed us. :(
