Dear Getachew,
It was with great pleasure that I read your article entitled "The Green Implication of Yichalal". Some time in February this year I posted a Similar comment regarding the tree plantation around Addis.
This was a response to my own observation after I stayed in Addis for a month holiday. During this time, I saw the main roads and the hills surrounding the capital really exposed with no green spot at all.
I raised my concern through Addis Tribune and received enormous response regarding the possibility of organizing the same kind of campaign you mentioned in your article.
I have to admit that as soon as the war started my attention shifted to following up the outcome of the conflict. Fortunately, it ended quickly and people have to go back to business immediately. I went back two months ago and was impressed by a one man "Gashe Abera Molla" if I am not mistaken was named after his song.
This man I was told was responsible for planting hundreds of Palm Trees and other types through out the main streets of Addis. He also placed big rubbish bins separated by few meters around the same street he planted the trees.
I was so impressed and glad to see the change and thought this guy needs support.
Since I was there for a short period, I didn't have time to meet him in person but saw that it is POSSIBLE and I totally agree with what you're saying. Please keep in touch and lets take it further.
Regards,
Seyoum.
