Holding myself accountable to a higher standard of behavior is an aspect of my Pagan moral life. To try to improve behavior, outlook, or performance is a natural evolutionary drive; The humanism of people taking responsibility for their own outcome.
My Pagan morality is ideal driven. I see images of the Old Gods, Goddesses and heroes, and I want to step forward into the light of positive performance, of striving, of seeking after excellence.
With that comes the joy of evolving into something new, fulfilling ones own goals. Not financing my inner life with the debt of things done wrong, rather, financing higher self-development.
I have had errors of factual judgment, behaved rashly or in a manner unjustly injurious to others at time to be sure, but these misdeeds are not the basis of my morality. They are the course corrections to be made by enlarging my awareness, taking in wider perspectives and identifying with the higher good; even if this death sentence does not recognize the change and tries to kill who I was , when who I was is dead already.
