IVth International Alagin Meet
Hyderabad, India
August 11-13, 2006
|
| The AP chapter of Alumni of Allahabad Agriculture Institute extends an invitation to Aggies all over the world to meet in Hyderabad on August 11, 2006 for three days of camaraderie, interaction and fun. This follows successful meets at Sri Lanka (Aug 2005), Cochin (Oct 2004), Bangalore (Aug 2002) where friendships nurtured in the stomping grounds of Jamuna paar were rekindled and renewed. For many it was simply picking up from separations of up to 25-50 years and without exception, the process was effortless and highly nostalgic.
While the formal inauguration of the meet will take place at 9AM on August 11th, it is strongly suggested that all attendees reach Hyderabad on the 10th and plan to leave no earlier than Monday the 14th in order to fully enjoy the always poignant closing ceremonies.
Accommodations to fit various budgets are being negotiated and will be posted on this site. Please keep checking this column for additions/changes as we hope to have a selection of locations up shortly Please feel free to write to the Secretariat in case you have special dietary requirements or are looking for alternate accommodations not listed.
An actuals based fee of Rs 2000 per adult and Rs 1000 per child under 12 years old is the registration fee for the event. This covers lunch and dinner for all three days, transportation between venues and entertainment. Beverages and spirits at the various events would be provided at a nominal cost.
A digest of registered members of the AP Alumni Association (a registered body) is made available. Do scan through and look for your AP batch mates who would be able to extend you more personalized attention ......since most of us are Reddy's and Rao's we wont blame you if you get confused ...... the best way to remember us is the [quiet] bunch of Madrasis who in winter wore our sweaters under our shirts in order to look super cool and macho!
We urge you to bring your children along ..... it would definitely help in their pyscho-therapy!! Its only by meeting other fruitcake Aggies will they understand why their parent(s) are as whacko as they are!! Seriously though, the Meets have become more child-centric over the years with second generation Aggies providing a lot of the masthi, entertainment and energy to the sessions. Plus they also keep their parents on the best behaviour reducing the organizer's crowd-control woes!
Group pictures of the last meets are posted here for your viewing pleasure. We would like to see YOU and YOUR FAMILY featured in the next photograph at Hyderabad!
We will be adding bits and pieces of information and links that might be of interest to you. Write to us if you need specific details on anything that is not covered here. We also solicit suggestions and ideas from participants on the kind of activities they would like to indulge in with the group. While nightly entertainment and day tours are on the cards, time will be allocated for visiting and socializing within the group. For those keen on a comprehensive historical tour of Hyderabad's checkered history, you may want to stay on a few additional days to do so at leisure. Those who would like to participate in the entertainment, please send in your names so we can plug you in.
Please write and confirm your attendance as soon as possible so we can post your name on the attendees list. This in turn would generate participation from your buddy's and cronies from yesteryears and hopefully snowball into record participation. Remember the more the merrier! Also the Class with the maximum number of attendees would be the ruling class of the meet and have special privileges.....so get your gang together!! Also, to borrow a very inspirational and enthusiastic concept from the Cochin Meet, at the time of registration we will logging you in as member of the House you were in college. So again, rope in your best punters and cheerleaders and come shooting to WIN for your house in the many games and contests that will be conducted.
Its going to take a little effort, planning and expense to get here. But think about it, if George Bush And Bill Clinton could make the time to come here kuchh tho hoga yaar! And they weren't hanging around with fellow alumni of (what used to be) one of the friendliest campuses in the world. Make time to crystalize your memories and spontaneously pick up on relationships that you shared 10, 20, 30 years ago.....we assure you, you wont miss a beat. The only danger of you attending the meet will be the pressure you exert on folks to organize the next one! And yes, the biryani here is to die for. Jump start your day with a cuppa' Irani chai and get prepared to enjoy some Hyderabadi tehzeeb (hospitality) where every conversation invariably gravitates towards food .....and look forward to three days of [arguably] the best cuisine in India.
August 11, 12 & 13, 2006. Be there!
