Alan's Internet Links
BOINC distributed computing project at UC BerkeleySETI@home statistics
Background program that uses spare processor power (1GHz isn't needed to read this) in an attempt to filter out alien generated radio signals. ProteinPredictor@home is a more earthly based Boinc project I also run, not as neat as finding aliens, the idea could advance science, maybe help save lives.
Bundeswehr rank insignia and my West German stuff
German rank structure, when I made this page in 1995 there didn't seem to be much English info on the Internet about the modern German military.
Conflict: Middle East
Political game from 1990 that's not sold anymore. In it you're the 1997 Israeli leader with problems, 36 small PC data files have the minor glitches that are on my original 5 1/4" disks, this one is from a freeware site. Good laptop computer game that's more entertaining than Solitaire, save file for a huge weapons purchase.
French Foreign Legion
Elite fighting forces with a long history and a code of ethics that will give most any semi-anonymous man a new chance at life. If he can overlook serving France and isn't bothered with the idea of learning basic French in a boot camp class, then I'm pretty sure the Legion would be an experience worth having. I have no criminal record, don't share French fondness for the Blue Berets, and have a happy life in America. France takes care of their Legionnaires, become a full EU citizen.

Semper Fidelis! World's finest fighting organization. Never left behind for any reason, every single US Marine survived WWII's Bataan Death March, and they will still finish any mission. Even the lowest ranking Marine is capable of completing any mission on his/her own without supervision, Marines understand there's no "armored fuel trucks," the more democratic thinking US Army still has a few personnel who feel otherwise. Who'd you want watching your back?
NASA's Picture of the Day
New space pictures from NASA for every day of the year. Lots of false colorizing! Put this link here June 5, 1998.
