THE EYE KNOWS
Grant's Eye on the World
Are the leftist Democrat liberal socialists a bit whacko or what? You decide, I've already made up my mind. Course that was made up years ago. It's only just now some of the others are slowly beginning to realize it. It might take awhile, but there is hope. Looking at the way things are in today's school system, it might take longer than we think.
Bring Back Elian if You Have a Chance
I've got 2 stories to refer to here. Let me put up the references. I'll note the sources so you can see which article is attributed to which. But really, it doesn't matter. Our own socialist AP writers draw from the same source anyway.
Jimmy Carter Announces Cuba Visit Date; A/P;
Apr 18, 2002
And
U.S. Senator Travels to Cuba; Apr 20, 2002;
A/P
You can't get any more leftist than these two. You really have to wonder if they're not on a secret mission to get some cigars for Billie-bob.
Jimmy Carter announced Thursday that he will
head a delegation to Cuba on May 12-17, making
him the first American president in or out of office
to visit this communist country during Fidel
Castro's 43 years in power. (Carter
article)
Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer arrived in
Cuba on a fact-finding mission accompanied by a
diverse delegation that includes a Grateful Dead
drummer, a British actress and U.S. agricultural
representatives. (Boxer article)
What is it with these people anyway? You'd think Castro had done something beneficial to the world or something. Problem is, neither one of these people will let the facts get involved in the way of their mission.
"I look forward to this opportunity to meet with
Cuban people from all walks of life and to talk
with President Castro," Carter said in a statement
issued in Atlanta, where his nonprofit Carter
Center is based. (Carter article)
Is this a part of Carter's 'undermine Bush' campaign?
Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer arrived in
Cuba on a fact-finding mission accompanied by a
diverse delegation that includes a Grateful Dead
drummer, a British actress and U.S. agricultural
representatives. (Boxer article)
This is the distinguished California senator traveling with a rock star. Ever stop to wonder why they drag along such trash with them? Does it help their image? (I'm talking about the drummer and the British actress here.)
The visit by Carter and his wife, Rosalyn, comes
amid a toughening of the White House's policies
toward Cuba. The State Department has said it
hopes Carter will deliver Castro a message in
favor of democracy and human rights. (Carter
article)
That's what I was afraid of. Last time he challenged Fido Castro on human rights and freedom, Fido took him up on it and sent us their most hardened and unsavory criminals. Wonder what Jimmy will bring back this time?
U.S. agribusiness has been pressing for
legislative changes that would allow Cuba to use
American financing to buy their products under a
2-year-old law that allows direct sales of
American food to the communist island for the
first time in nearly four decades. (Boxer
article)
(sigh) Will it never cease? Barbie here is pushing California fruits and agriculture. What's wrong with that Eye? Last week you called yourself a capitalist pig, this is capitalism isn't it? (sigh) This is socialism. It's redistribution of wealth and both of these socialist goons are in on it. Look at Barbie's approach, she wants it financed by America (read that taxpayers). After Fido eventually defaults on the financial end of it, who ends up picking up the tab? Certainly not Barbara Boxer and Jimmy Carter.
The Loneliest Man in Town
Remember the ol' Maytag commercials? The one where they claimed that because of their quality and reliability, the repairmen never receive any phone calls? Well they're back.
Maytag Income Falls, Slower Sales Seen; April
16, 2002; Reuters
Keep the above in mind as you read the woes faced by our friends at Maytag.
No. 3 U.S. appliance maker Maytag Corp.
posted
a drop in first-quarter earnings on Tuesday as
year-ago results were boosted by a tax benefit,
and said appliance sales growth is likely to slow
through the year.
Is it Maytag's fault because they built such quality appliances?
"Gross margin was considerably below a year
ago, so I suspect that they are pumping the
volume to get the units out," Horan said. "Under
their interim CEO last year, they were vehement
about holding the minimum suggested retail
price. Maybe they are looking the other way to move the stuff."
I don't think so. I think they need a new spokesman. Someone that can champion the cause for cleaner clothes. Someone that can show what it is that really needs cleaning. Someone who knows all about dirt and grime. Someone who can set an example of a need to clean up.
Algore, the loneliest man in town. Well, the loneliest Washington anyway.
You Sound Like a Broken Record
For any of you who don't know, there are 2 sides to congress. Those who want to spend and keep spending and spend more (the Democrats) and those who want to give the taxpayers some relief and cut taxes and cut spending (the Republicans). How can I make such a claim? Well lookie here.
Daschle Says Senate Will Nix Tax Cut; Apr 16,
2002; A/P
The headline proves it. Daschle is against it.
Despite President Bush's urgings, the
Democratic-run Senate will not consider
legislation to make permanent last year's $1.35
trillion tax cut, Majority Leader Tom Daschle said
Tuesday.
The simple question is, 'why'? Why don't you want to give back the taxpayers their money?
"We will also never bring up the permanent tax
cut the president is advocating," Daschle told
reporters. "It's bad policy, it's wrong and it
compounds the budget disaster we are now
facing."
Really, what has changed here? Nothing. Same old worn our arguments. The government never has to do with less. They will always demand more, or least the liberal democrats will.
"Keep in mind, every single dollar of this tax cut
will be taken from the Social Security trust fund,"
Daschle said.
A lie. Every dollar spent takes away from the fund whether you cut the money coming in (tax increase), or cut the money going out (spending), it the same fund and, as such, is taken from the SS fund.
Congressional estimates peg the cost of
making
the tax cut permanent at $373 billion over the
decade ending in 2012. Democrats say the true
cost, counting higher interest costs, would
approach $4 trillion during the decade after
2012.
Little Tommy D really doesn't know what he's talking about. There are no projected deficits; therefore there are no interest costs. Interest accrues on borrowing money, and if there is a surplus, you're not borrowing. Tell me little Tommy D, do you pay interest on your own personal surplus funds? If you do, you shouldn't be in a position to be managing money. Alas, he is, and it's thinking like this that leads to waste. . .
Anyone See a Missing Label?
For 3 weeks running I've put up comments on missing party affiliations. They involved 2 democrats - Gary Condit and James Traficant. In each story, it was never once mentioned that these 2 sleaze balls were democrats. Whether you find that insignificant or trivial or an oversight, I don't. There are reasons. I could carry on with these 2 jerks but let me add another one.
Donor's Aide: Torricelli Yelled During Call;
April
15, 2002; A/P
The pattern continues folks.
A woman who obstructed a federal probe of
illegal contributions to Sen. Robert Torricelli's
1996 campaign was sentenced Monday to three
years' probation, telling the judge Torricelli
berated her after she began cooperating with
investigators.
This is typical here. Remember how many people went to jail who associated themselves with the Clintons? Well Torch here runs a similar pattern. But wait a minute, which party is affiliated with?
"One night Torricelli called me on the phone
yelling at me, `I had everything in control, what is
he trying to do, let him shut up,"' Audrey Yu said,
apparently relating the senator's fury at her boss,
businessman David Chang.
Hehe, well Torch here also used the Chinese. See any pattern????
"I had tears in my eyes telling the prosecutors
to
catch Torricelli," Yu told the judge. "It will be so
shameful if we still have senator like Torricelli
representing our nation."
I'm not surprised. However Ms Yu, we've been ashamed of the previous representatives their entire tenure. Welcome to the club. You just now catching on?
Asked to respond to Yu's comments, Torricelli
press secretary Debra DeShong said: "Audrey Yu
is an admitted perjurer and now a convicted felon
who conspired with David Chang to tell lies and
undermine the judicial system. It would be
extraordinary if anyone took anything she said
seriously."
But Audrey, you know what they say? With 2 you get egg rolls. And, could I have some more fried rice and crow please.
I Knew this 2 Years Ago
For all their bragging and boasting and self-importance, these press guys are slooooowww to catch on.
McCain Touted as a Democrat Nominee; by Tom
Curry; MSNBC.com; Apr 18, 2002
Huh? What's this?
WASHINGTON MONTHLY editor Joshua Green
argues that McCain "is no longer in any
meaningful sense a contemporary Republican.
It's time he recognized this and that Democrats
exploited it. Because if McCain truly desires to
be president, his best chance of winning may be
to run as a Democrat."
Ahhh Josh, he hasn't been a republican quite some time now man. Man has always been a democrat in a republican suit anyway.
Green contends that "most Democrats would
welcome him as a conquering hero."
Well, to get the kind descriptive words from the press, you need to be a democrat or a democrat wannabe.
She said McCain stands by his statement from
last summer: "I have no intention of running for
president, nor do I have any intention of or cause
to leave the Republican Party. I hope this will put
an end to further speculation on this subject."
Well we now know for sure. He's going for it. All the democrats deny political ambitions. Remember Broom Hillary and her senate run denials?
Apart from the field of contenders such as
Gephardt and Edwards, the biggest obstacles to
McCain running for the Democratic nomination
are his support for President Bush, instead of
Gore, in the 2000 election and, perhaps more
important, his record as a member of the House
and Senate since 1983.
Believe me he didn't want to support Bush, but his home state threatened to recall him so he went into hiding. Maybe they'll get serious this time around. He was elected as a republican, but that doesn't matter, unless of course, you're switching from democrat to republican. Then you'd be stonewalled. And perhaps stoned too.
