In My Dreams...

A Highly modified Swift owned by Steve Hein

...I sometimes jolt awake with the sudden realization that a storm has destroyed my Globe Swift. Then I realize that I don't own one and go back to sleep. The original Swift was a seriously underpowered (85 horse), aluminum retractable gear airplane. But it didn't take them long to wise up and install the 6 cylinder 145 horse Continental (same engine found on an older C172), which transformed the plane nicely. Of course Swift owners didn't stop there. The plane pictured above is sporting an aftermarket sliding canopy, a completely different cowling which hides a bigger engine (probably a 210 horse Continental) and 3 blade prop. It could have a ton more modifications, I wouldn't know because this is as close as I've ever been to this particular Swift.

Perhaps you should feast your browser on the Globe Temco Swift Homepage where web perpetrator Denis Arbeau keeps track of all things Global and Swift.
