Hey! How do you like my background? Pretty cool uh! I bet you'd like to have one similar to this wouldn't you? Well you can! I only paid $15 bucks for this one! No! I'm kidding, I'm kidding!!! LOL! Actually I made it myself and I'm gonna show you how you can make one for your page too! Now these are just the basics! You're gonna have to practice and play with it because, as we all know! Practice make perfect!!!!!!!
First! You need a background to put your text on. I like to use one that's 150x150. If you don't have one, Here's a black one that you can use! That is if you want too! You can use any color you like!
NOTE! Please don't link directly to this image! If you want to save it until later transload it to your files. If you don't know how to transload, here's a great TUTORIAL on how to transload images.
After you have your background transloaded, go to your file manager and view your background.
Now! hit your goto button! When you see the popup you have to scroll down to ( show last ). Click on it! The URL of the background will be in the text area! Now you want to use press CMD and A keys to highlight the URL. Then you press CMD and C keys to copy the URL!
Now you have to take the background to Image Magick to put your text on it.
Once you get to Image Magick you'll see two text areas! The top one says "Filename" and the bottom one says URL. Go to the bottom one! Delete the http:// that you see in the text area.
Now you are gonna paste the URL of the background into the text area! Press the CMD and V keys to paste the URL and then press view and it will take you to the next page!
NOTE! If you need to learn more about Cutting and Pasting. My friend Freebird has a great C/P Tutorial!
On this page you could paint the background a different color if you wanted to but we're gonna leave it black for now!
At the top of the page you'll see three rows of tabs. On the second row at the end "on the right of the screen" you'll see one that says "Annotate". Press it! On the next screen is where you'll actually write on your background!
When you get to this screen you'll see "Text" with a text area right below it! This is where you'll put the text that you want on your background.
Next! You'll see "Location and Gravity". This is where you position the text on your background. Since we're just working on the basics we'll use the pulldown to choose our position. Click on the pulldown and choose "center".
Now scroll down the page and you'll see "Fill". This is where you put the color that you want your text to be! You can use the HEX color code or you can just write in the name of the color.
Next scroll down to "Font"! Here you will choose what style of text you want to use. Click on the checkbox and choose the style you want! If you want to see examples of the different styles just click on the word "Font" and you'll be taken to the example page.
Now scroll further down the page until you see "Pointsize". This is the size of the text. It's usally set at 24 but you can play around with different sizes until you find what you're looking for. The highter the number the larger the text!
Now a little further down you'll see "Rotate"! This is the angle that you want your text to be tilted. I like to use 30! You can play with this also until you get the angle you want but 30 will work for most cases.
Now scroll back up to the button that says "Annotate"! This will take you to the output screen.
On this page you'll see "Format". Click on the checkbox and choose "gif". Now go to "Storage type" and choose "Single File". Now press the "Output" button!
Now you should be on the final output screen! Scroll down and click on your image. Hit your goto button and when you see the popup, go down and click on "show last". This will give you the temporary URL of your background. Now! Press CMD A to hightlight the URL and then CMD C to copy it.
NOTE! If you make a mistake on any of the above steps, just use your back key to return to the previous page and correct it. Remember! These are just the basic steps! After you get familiar with Image Magick you can get pretty creative making backgrounds and banners. Well go ahead and give it a shot!
Now you have to go to the transloader and transload the background to your files. If you don't know how to transload please check out my tansloading tutorial
