Arthur is jubilant having finally found love and looks forward to his quieter days. He sees Lancelot as possesing the honor and bravery of a true knight. He welcomes both Guenevere and Lancelot into his city, and his heart never forseeing how his great capacity for love and trust opens the door for betrayal.
Sean Connery was the perfect choice to play King Arthur. He embodies the whole persona of how Arthur was percieved to be. He has always played a perfect king, even in Robin Hood where he portrayed King Richard the Lionnheart. No one else could have brought this character to life like he did, he was, in my eyes, the only choice.
With no ties, no enemies, no fear, Lancelot is the perfect warrior. He comes to Camelot not for glory or knighthood, although he finds both, but for the love of the one woman he cannot have, the beautiful and honorable Lady Guenevere of Leoness.
Although some may disagree, I think Richard Gere was the perfect Lancelot. This was the role that made me love him. It's definetely a different character for him, not at all similar to his role in Pretty Woman, yet he portrays his character so well, you can't help but root for him to get the girl no matter how much you love and respect Arthur.
She has promised to marry King Arthur not only because his army will protect her country but because she turly loves him for his wise and gentle ways. As she prepares to enter Camelot as it's new Queen a chance encounter with Lancelot awakens conflicting and powerful emotions within her. She wants to remain true to her promise to Arthur but cannot deny her feelings for Lancelot.
Julia Ormond was, also the perfect choice for Guenevere. She's not the most famous actress, but she portrays Guenevere perfectly, as an honorable and strong person who wants to do the right thing. I first saw her in Sabrina, also a great film, and this movie made me love her even more
Malagant's goal is to conquer Camelot, he tries to get to Arthur through Guenevere and Leoness, using any advantage possible. He is the perfect villain, a Knight of the Roundtable, turned to evil, he makes you hate him
Ben Cross is a great actor, although I haven't seen him in anything else, he plays a great villain in this movie.
Agravaine isn't really a main character so there isn't much to say, but he is the perfect right hand man for King Arthur.
Cunningham
Liam Cunningham is a great actor. I also loved him in A Little Princess, another great movie.
Oswald is also a small side character, but he is a great one.
He is so wise and loveable.
Gielgud
I don't know much about Sir John Gielgud, but what I do know is that he does a great job in this movie. He only has a small role, but he brings it to life and makes his role important.
