Crockpot Pasta & Bean Recipes Crockpot Boston Baked Beans Baked Beans Crock Pot Baked Beans Favorite Baked Beans Macaroni and Cheese Chow Mein Casserole Crockpot Tuscan Pasta Crockpot Lasagne Crock-pot Macaroni 'n Cheese ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Crockpot Boston Baked Beans ingredients for 8 servings : 1 lb Dried Navy beans 2 Onions, chopped 1/2 c Brown sugar 1/4 c Molasses 1/3 c Catsup 1/4 lb Bacon, diced 1 tb Salt 1 1/2 ts Dry mustard 1/4 ts Pepper preparation: Soak beans in water overnight. Drain and put all ingredients in cooker. Add 1 cup water and stir to blend. Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours. Can also spice it up with a few cloves of garlic, a half teaspoon of powdered ginger, and a good dash of Worchestershire sauce. As an option, stir in 1 cup drained pineapple chuncks during the last hour of cooking for a delicious fruity flavor. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Baked Beans 1 pound Dried small white beans, rinsed & soaked overnight water to cover 1/3 cup molasses 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 large onion, chopped 1/4 pound salt pork, rinsed and cut into 1" cubes, or diced bacon 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste In crock pot, combine all ingredients except salt. Cover and cook on low 12 to 14 hrs., stirring occasionally, if possible. Add salt to taste when beans are tender. 6 to 8 servings. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Crock Pot Baked Beans 2 lb. dry navy beans 1 sm. onion, chopped 1 c. ketchup 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. water 2 tsp. mustard 2 tbsp. molasses 1 tbsp. salt 8-10 slices bacon, fried crisp Preparation : Put beans in three times the volume of unsalted water, bring to a boil and let simmer for 30 minutes. Let stand in covered hot water for 2 hours. Mix other ingredients in bowl. Drain beans well and mix all ingredients and beans together. Put in crock pot and let cook on low for 12 hours. Stir occasionally. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Favorite Baked Beans 1 pound dried small white beans, rinsed 3 1/2 cups water 1/3 cup molasses 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 onion, chopped 1/4 pound salt pork, cut into 1" cubes 1 tablespoon prepared mustard 1/2 teaspoon salt Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on High 6 to 7 hours or until beans are tender. ========================================== Crock-pot Macaroni 'n Cheese This recipe produces a soft creamy macaroni and cheese. There is no written recipe for this one, so measurements are approximate. 1 16 oz box of macaroni 1 stick of margarine (can use a little less) 2 cans evaporated milk (12 oz can) approximately 3 cups milk 24 oz (or less) grated sharp cheese 1 T. minced onion (optional) 1 T. oil 1 tsp. salt pepper to taste 1 or 2 finely grated carrots (optional) Put all the ingredients into the slow cooker. Cook on low for 3-4 hours until soft. Note: To cut down on fat, use nonfat evaporated milk, nonfat skim milk, less than 1 stick margarine, and less than 24 oz of cheese. You may also add a grated carrot or two for additional nutrition. ============================================== Crockpot Lasagne Lasagne tastes wonderful when it's cooked in the crockery pot. 1 lb ground beef or turkey 1 med. onion, chopped 1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce (approx. 26 oz) 12 oz container cottage cheese 1/2 grated parmesan cheese 1 egg 12 oz lasagna noodles (no need to cook!) 12 oz shredded mozzarella cheese (reserve 1/2 cup) Directions: Brown meat and onion in skillet. Drain off fat. Add jar of spaghetti sauce and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes (if the sauce is too thick, you may want to add about a 1/2 cup of water to thin it). In a separate bowl, combine all the cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese (except reserved 1/2 cup) and the egg. Mix thoroughly. Spoon a layer of meat sauce onto the bottom of crock cooker. Add *two* layers of uncooked lasagna noodles (broken into small pieces to make them fit) and then top with cheese mixture. Repeat with sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture until all are used. Sprinkle reserved 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella on very top. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for approximately 3 hours. Serves 6-8. ============================================== Chow Mein Casserole A delicious dish made with tuna and chow mein noodles. 1 can mushroom soup 1 small green pepper, chopped 1 cup celery, chopped 1 can tuna fish in spring water, drained 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup onion, chopped 1 cup chow mein noodles Mix all ingredients except chow mein noodles in your slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 7 - 8 hours. Add chow mein noodles during the last hour of cooking =========================================== Crockpot Tuscan Pasta Pasta can be made in the slow cooker and this recipe tastes fabulous. 1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1" pieces 15 1/2 oz. can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained 15 oz. can tomato sauce 29 oz. canned Italian-style stewed tomatoes, undrained 4 1/2 oz. jar sliced mushrooms, drained 1 cup bell pepper, chopped 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup chopped celery 1 Tbsp. garlic powder, or to taste 1 cup water 1 tsp. dried Italian seasoning 6 oz. uncooked thin spaghetti, broken in half Combine all ingredients except spaghetti in crock pot. Cover and cook on LOW 4-5 hours. Stir in spaghetti. Cover and cook on HIGH for 45-50 minutes until pasta is tender. ============================================= |
