......This page was created to oppose the sale of unreleased Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac material on personal webpages, through mailing lists, and on Ebay and similar forums. Much of the community of online Stevie/FM fans feel that this material should be traded and shared; NOT sold. Many people who buy cds of demos and bootleg concerts on Ebay and the forums like it are unaware that these things are widely circulated among fans whoexchange it freely. Many of those people are also understandably upset when they learn the "ultra rare" cd they have just paid $60 for is fairly common and could have been copied for them by a trader in exchange for a blank cd. It is the opinion of those who support this page that the sale of bootlegs is an exploitation of the artist (remember, they don't make any profit from this stuff), and the fans.
.....Curious as to where the people who sell this music get the majority of it? The trading community. Most sellers obtain these recordings for free from Stevie/Mac traders and attempt to make a quick buck off the unsuspecting fan. We think it's unfair-- to us, as traders, and to you. Our hope is that by continuing to encourage the free exchange of unreleased music, more people will become aware of trading.
.....Below are links to trading rings and websites. No resource that asks for money in exchange for music is listed here. These links are to websites that trade Fleetwood Mac & Stevie Nicks music, but trade pages that deal in other artists' audio/video rarities are welcome as well. There is a trading community for almost every artist... all you have to do is look! Feel free to spread this link! We encourage re-directing fans who are buying/bidding on Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac boots to the trading community! Please spread the word. :-)
.....What if you don't have anything to trade for the cds you want? If you're unfamiliar to trading, or simply looking to get one specific thing without starting a collection, many traders will accomodate you. These are two ideas you'll want to be familiar with:
