How do people go through death, tragedy and life experiences without Christ? Where do they turn for answers? How do you ever dig your way out from under the guilt and bondage that has held you captive for so long? I can tell you that my testimony is all about the miracle of salvation and what Christ can do with a life that has been crushed by heartache and tragedy. Just because you grow up going to church, attending Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and so on, doesn't mean that you grasp who God is or even that He really loves you. Sometimes the "whosoever" in John 3:16 doesn't seem to hit everyone's heart. That was where I was and stayed, for the next sixteen years. After the trauma of my boyfriend Michael, (who later became my husband), a trauma which left him permanently paralyzed, my life could be described as bitter, defeated, and angry. I not only carried the weight of his injury with me, I also believed it happened because of my past mistakes and life experiences. Not until I was invited to come to church with a friend for "friend day" did I really step back into a church again. It was there that my open wounds and heartache began to reveal themselves and I knew I couldn't hide much longer.
There are so many people who are living their lives just like I did. They are the walking dead and they don't even realize it! I know the power of wholeness and healing in my own life and that it is available to all of us, not just a special few. I am so thankful for the mercy and grace of Christ and pray that He will display Himself through me for His glory. I was almost twenty-nine years old before I came to accept Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and since then He has been stirring within my heart and spirit a deep desire to share about His love and grace through testimony and song. I am now a part of First Baptist, Icard which is where I was invited to "come and see", by my friend. I always ask God to sing through my voice and use me as a vessel He can fill and that those who hear the songs I sing will really be hearing Him speak to their heart. My life verse perfectly states what Christ can do in a life transformed. It is found in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new."
I pray God's blessings for you, and I hope these songs will be a source of encouragement to you in your life.
