The theme of the day from is "Hoard".This week's theme comes to us from Lula. She wrote, "Cardboard packaging like a box with the item(s) that came in the cardboard package. We all, at times, keep cardboard in one form or another in our homes." This can also be left up to interpretation in other ways as well....Webster's defines hoarding as "To collect and lay up; to amass and deposit in secret; to store secretly, or for the sake of keeping and accumulating; as, to hoard grain." See what you can find... I had a hard time finding something to take a picture of that would come under the heading of "hoard". While I do have collections, I will hardly call it "hoarding". Of course, that is a matter of interpretation. My husband would say that I "hoard" shoes. I've seen some people that never wear the same pair of shoes twice, so my "hoard" of 9 pairs is not enough to me. Let me see, I have 3 pairs of heels, a pair of sneakers, a pair of canvas slip-ons, a pair of canvas oxfords, a pair of leather casuals, and a 2 pairs of summer sandals. When I put in a list like that, it does appear like a lot. Shame on me for hoarding shoes!!! Inspired by a conversation I had today about AVerMEdia, and turning videos into DVD's, I took a picture of my husband's video collection. ![]() Videos He has close to 100 videos of things he's taped, including Buffalo Bill's games, TV specials, and Star Trek episodes. Hey, I'm not complaining, but most of these tapes he's never watched more than once. Is there a point to keeping all of these, and taking up an entire end table cupboard? On a much more extreme "haording" note, I am always amazed by the hoarding whenever there is an approaching storm or other crisis. During the winter, when they are predicting a winter storm, you go to any store and the bread and milk are already sold out. Unbelievable! Gasoline shortage in Arizona is causing people to hoard gas. In the news this week, they have been covering the shortage of gasoline in Arizona. Increased demand is causing prices to skyrocket. At one gas station, the price was $3.89 a gallon. This was caused by people panicking after a ruptured line earlier this month dimished supply. Instead of people thinking of ways to conserve gas, they are being selfish, and taking more than they needed. What is wrong with people??? Or am I the one that's wrong? Would I be better off being rude and selfish, and adopt an attitude of "who cares about anyone else?"? Thanks for reading! Ann Marie ![]() ![]()
