AMBALA KENNELS bred their first litter on 30th August, 1968 which was
prior imports being available for use.   This was a very successful litter
with 3 Ch.  males and l Ch.bitch (the only bitch in the litter).  All were
best in  show winners.

We started in obedience and Max trained dogs through to their CDX titles and
won  the Bentheim Trophy 3 years in  a row with different dogs competing in    both breed and obedience.   Our kennel has won every trophy on offer through the NSW German Shepherd Dog League.

We owned, showed and trained our first male Ch.Tanaba Tannhauser CDX and he still is to my knowledge the only german shepherd to have won Best Exhibit in Show at the GSDL Speciality Show and Best In Show at a very large all breed obedience show.

We then started breeding with the imports that were available and were very successful in breeding many Excellent Graded, National Medal Winners, National Breeders Group winners, AOC's and many champions.

All of our stock are Breed Surveyed, x-rayed for hips and elbows.   The kennel obtained the Bronze, Silver & Gold medals for breeding stock passing the Hip Scheme. We have been fortunate over the years in having stood many imports at stud at our kennels and my late husband, Max Stokes, trained and prepared Ch.Lesko v Wildsteiger Land SchHl (imp Gmy) to his National Gold Medal win.

The kennel has now bred EIGHT National Medal Winners including the 2003 Gold Medal dog Ch. Ambala Caprio AZ.

Max was President of the German Shepherd Dog League for over 12 years and was President of The German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia for the last 3 years prior to his passing.

Both Max and I are German Shepherd Speciality Judges and National Breed Surveyors and have judged at speciality shows all over Australia and New Zealand with Max having judged overseas as well.  Our kennel still has quite a few 'geriatrics' but they remain with us for as long as their life span may be.  Once you lose your love for the dog itself,it is time to give up breeding.

Puppies are sometimes available, mostly full German lines or 3/4 German.
