| Cherry Street Soap Company is a small business based in beautiful Wisconsin, just minutes away from Madison. We started making our products because we were startled and disappointed to find out what commercial beauty products are made from and the harm they do to our skin and our environment. Our focus is to offer a natural, organic alternative to these commercial products by using only plant based oils, testing only on friends, never on animals and to always recycle and encourage recycling whenever possible. We love our beautiful land and want to keep it pure and unharmed in any way possible, and we want to look good doing it! In addition to the environmental benefits, our products offer amazing health benefits as well. We have found studies that have proved that olive oil actually slows the growth of cancer causing cells. When applied after exposure to the Sun, it also helps to fight the effects of harmful UV rays. The vitamins A & E and antioxidants found in olive oil have been known for years to help boost skin's elasticity, prevent wrinkles and slow the skin's aging process. Olive oil is the main ingredient in many of our products. We will happily disclose a list of all the ingredients we use in all our products, upon request. We believe that beauty from the inside shows on the outside and that's why using environmentally safe beauty products makes you so much more radiant! Extra virgin olive oil applied to the skin after sunbathing could protect against skin cancer. Women who use plenty of olive oil in their diets have a 42% lower risk of getting breast cancer. When consumed, olives naturally increase your body’s SPF. Anti-oxidant vitamins A & E (found in olive oil) are proven to be very helpful against skin damage. Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant with skin protective & moisturizing properties, prevents skin irritation & premature aging of the skin. It also offers anti-inflammatory properties. Vitamin A is another antioxidant with skin regenerative properties. It helps keep skin soft, smooth and firm, increases elasticity & has anti-aging benefits. The Danger in Using the Popular Brands: Some of the chemicals found in popular cosmetics (phthalates, formeldehyde, petroeum, parabens, benzene & lead) have been linked to breast cancer, endometriosis, reproductive disorders, birth defects & developmental disorders in children. The National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health lists as toxic 884 chemicals currently being used by the cosmetics & beauty industries. The FDA does not currently regulate the beauty & cosmetics industry, so they aren't required to label the ingredients used in their products. They are also responsible for their own safety testing. Even though traces of toxins can be found in your tissues & organs (entering your system through your largest organ-your skin) after using popular cosmetics brands, they're not individually safety approved before going out for sale.
