| As he watched the Salamander glide through the pond, he noticed that the water revealed a reflection of his false self. The boy, feeling disturbed by this, looked for something, anything to cling to for guidance. The salamander stopped swimming to rest on a batch of plant life. Suddenly, the amphibian proceeded to go through a metamorphosis. This does not surpprise the boy, for he thought it was an example of what he was to do in the future. He started on his way, only to turn around and find the answer of life. The salamander had gone through the metamorphosis; it had turned into a larger salamander. He came to the conclusion that, like the salamander, so should we live our lives~in a constant, yet subtle, metamorphosis. The boy strolled, with his new found knowledge, to where his house would have been. To his surprise, he found that his house was gone; completely uprooted and taken, along with it's occupants. In it's place was a large mass of what appeared to be amphibian eggs. He walked around the eggs, inspecting them. Then, one hatched, and the top corner of his house re-appeared, exactly where it should be, resting on the cluster. Before he couold fathom it, all the rest of the eggs hatched until he couldn't see them anymore, he could only see his home. He opened the door. He almost felt depressed as he fell inside, still thinking of the eggs. |
