The Raven, six men and an Elf, swords for hire in the wars that have torn Balaia apart. For years their loyalty has been only to themselves and their code.
How is it then, that they are now fighting for the Dark College of magic? Searching for the location of Dawnthief: a spell to end the world, a spell that must be cast...

After losing three of their number in one battle, and opening a portal to the realm of dragons in the process, the Raven is in need of a rest.  As they are leaving after the battle however, they come across a Xeteskan mage called Denser who is in need of safe passage to his college city to deliver a vital artefact need to complete Dawnthief, the most devastating mana spell ever devised. Joined by three Dordovan warriors; a shape-changer, an elf and a thief, as well as Erienne, a recently widowed Dordovan Lore Mage, the party set off for Xetesk but are waylaid and decide to take the spell directly to the border where the Wesmen have gathered after freeing the Wytch Lords from their spectral prison.  If they don't get there in time, the whole of Balaia will be lost.

In Noonshade, the after-effects of the Dawntheif casting are being felt all over Balaia and beyond for the spell has torn a rift between Balaia and the dimension where dragons rule.  The leader of Brood Khaan is quite annoyed as can be expected.  He holds The Raven responsible and charges them with finding a way to close the rip.  Add to this thousands of marauding Wesmen, a College under siege and the conflicts in Sha-Khaan's own dimension and you have a potentially explosive mixture on your hands.

Nightchild is the teeth-clenchingly, heartrending conclusion to the trilogy.  Erienne's daughter by Denser is in great danger from the very people who should be protecting her. Erienne's college think that they should have control of her, but Erienne is not going to lose her daughter like she lost her sons... Add to that the fact that Lyanna's magic is the manifested mana of the land of Balaia, and there could be trouble...Denser calls on his old friends, The Raven, to help when Erienne takes Lyanna away. But what can The Raven do, when it is through Lyanna that the world is destroying itself? Can they really afford to protect her from her destiny?
